What would I like? Universal registration. Mandatory training. Enforcement of reasonable restrictions on purchase. Basically, much the same as purchase of a car. You have to register it. Driver training is mandatory, at least for the young. Demonstrated competence is mandatory to get a license. Misuse can get your right to operate it taken from you. Mandatory regulations for safety of the vehicle and for safe operation exist.

None of these prevent idiots and criminals from driving, but they help. If your purposefully impossible conditions were met, any drunk. looney, or irresponsible idiot could drive, but could buy all the guns he wanted.

I don't want to grab your precious guns. You may play with them to your heart's content if that floats your boat. Just, for a change, be honest about it They are weapons. Reasonable restrictions on purchase, possession, and use do not, paranoia notwithstanding, mean confiscation.

Car accidents are the leading cause of death behind heart disease. So what if you're qualified to do drive it? That qualification obviously did nothing because they are dead anyway.

I DO want to change the criminals' market for guns. I want them to be forced to go to the black market for guns. I want them to have to pay a huge markup on the gun they want to buy, because it is VERY dangerous to the seller to sell them one, so the markup is almost price prohibitive. I want sellers to be concerned that they will go to jail for a long time if they sell to a criminal. I want criminals to have to use unscrupulous dealers that won't ask questions, because ATF undercover agents can then take those sellers off the streets. We can mitigate the circumstances and do in several states. Saying that it isn't possible is ridiculous. It is possible and is being done now… just not everywhere.

The Brady Act was passed in the 1980s. The FICS went into effect in 1998. It is 2015. How much more time do we need to take to "ease" this law into effect? The unintended consequences are already happening. Criminals are able to buy guns easily and there is no way to even curb it now, much less stop it. We aren't going to stop every single "bad guy" purchase, but we can make it much harder for them to get a gun. We just have to stop making excuses for why we haven't made those laws and actually do it.

It really is binary. There is a problem. We know what it is. We even know how to remedy the problem. We just have to do it in 37 more states. Thirteen already do it. The situation isn't that it can't be done. It can and is being done. It just isn't being done completely. The gap allows the problem to continue. Ninety percent of Americans want that gap closed. You are either on the side of criminals or you aren't. Most people aren't and I wasn't surprised to read that you didn't support laws that allow anonymous criminal purchases. Fixing the gap does mean change and most people resist change. That's human nature. However, we will change, if there is a good reason. Not accepting that our laws allow criminals to buy guns anonymously is a good enough reason to change. We've slow walked this issue long enough.

We have seen what happens when things are banned or made more difficult to get.

What is going to happen is what happened during prohibition and the war on drugs. More violence, more death, more crime.

Put.Violent.Criminals.In.Jail and leave them there as they are caught. You can't make violent people peaceful, you can only separate them from the ones who already are.

13 states have ended Welfare, WIC, Section 8 housing, Affirmative Action and are swiftly executing all convicted criminals? When did that happen?
