Good luck in tearing away the Generation "X" and Millennials from their play stations. Besides very few people carry large sums of money these days except drug runners and executives since most don't have much money.

    It's quite selective too.

I take your point. I don't know enough to comment about the due process angle but if they're doing it without the support of the law then it must amount to criminality surely.

I am not quibbling selectivity in this alternative; merely double-taxation without double representation.

    selectivity can be very subjective.

waiters get caught by it a lot, cause they have cash on them and it will cost more to get a lawyer then just let the cops keep it

we should of been able to confiscate the banks when they committed crimes.... or other corps too, course republicans draw the line when it effects the rich

This isn't a partisan issue which you are trying to make it out to be. Just like a good indoctrinated leftist.

Not sure what the hoopla is about. If you get caught with a boatload of illegal drugs and/or guns and have hundreds or thousands of dollar on you then it is a smart assumption that it is dirty money. You play with fire, you will get burned. I have zero sympathy for people who break the law and cry when they get caught.

and if you commit bank crimes, they should be able to take your bank and all the money in it..... before proving guilt

I know plenty of people who carry large sums, just as a matter of convenience, basically, $1000 is worth what $100 was worth a few decades ago. If you have money, you do not want to frequent the bank, so you carry enough to get you through a month or so.

The issue is quite simple, the Constitution says that before your property can be taken from you, the government must first prove in a court of law that you have broken a law that justifies the confiscation of your property. In the case of asset forfeiture, the cops know you have done nothing they can prosecute you for, so they arrest your property and require you to sue them to retrieve it. It is theft pure and simple, and those who engage in it belong in prison. The problem is that it is enormously profitable and the government knows the vast majority of the people are oblivious it is even going on so they will continue to rob people illegally until if or when the idiot masses begin to understand the problem and then they will back peddle, but they will keep all the billions upon billions of dollars of stolen assets they have already stolen.
They know they are thieves, they are just counting on you not knowing it, at least until the steal your property in which case you will know it very well.

Not quite. The problem presented with the solution does not alienate. Endless problems without solutions does alienate. People withdraw in fear.

Horsecrap, every person with a working brain can come to their own conclusion about what they feel would be a workable solution to any problem, the problem in most cases is that they are willfully ignorant that the problem even exists because they want to withdraw into their matrix existence. By putting the problem in their face, you force them to look at what they would prefer to ignore. That is how things change.

Im old fashioned. If I dont have like 100 cash in my pocket I feel broke even with my debit card in my pocket. I always pay my rent in cash. Its strange how cops immediately now think your making a drug deal if you have a few hundred in cash on you these days and disturbing

Last time I got arrested I went to a lawyer. He told me its not whether your innocent or guilty that matters but what they can threaten you with. He said he could most likely get me off for 2K but it was much safer and easier to simply pay the $250 fine. Then they get you to purger yourself and plead guilty to a crime you never committed

Are you mentally challenged? No one said anything about someone being caught with illegal contraband.
This discussion is about people having their assets seized without committing a crime. If a cop pulls you over for a traffic violation and says he wants to pat you down for weapons, then finds a wad of cash in your pocket, and seizes it on suspicion that you are going to do something illegal with it, you are powerless to do anything about it short of hiring a lawyer for a few thousand and go to court to prove you had a legal right to your own money.
Even if you win, you lose because the court will not allow you to recoup the cost of your legal fees. It is an old fashion government shake down, it is completely illegal, and it goes to prove the cops are bigger criminals than the people we are putting in prison.

If you're not sure what the "hoopla" is about, it must be because you didn't understand the thread. Try reading it again (or for the first time). We're not talking about getting caught with a "boatload of drugs and guns". We're talking about people having their money stolen for committing no crime. It's simply a matter of "you have money, so I will take it", and (here is the important part, so please pay attention) NO CHARGES ARE FILED.

That is actually very common in the legal system today. It is not just the cops who are criminals, but also the DA's and the Judges. The DA sees everyone who gets arrested as a number. The problem is that they have a vested interest in that number being another notch in their "convicted" record. You see, it is bad for their record if you are found innocent, so they have a personal stake in seeing that you plead out. They need a good conviction record to run for higher office. If you decide to stand up and fight the charges, they will retaliate by piling on other charges knowing that most juries are as ignorant as some of the people who post on this forum and only want to convict someone due to their personal prejudices. Your lawyer knows this and does not want to start a street fight with the DA over a minor matter so he advised you to plead out.

The problem is once you have done so, the system has you under their thumb. They can pull this same scam on you again if you ever are accused of something in the future. Only they play hardball now because they know a jury will be prejudiced by your earlier conviction. They can even charge you with some of their unsolved crimes knowing you did not do it, but that if you decide not to play, they will pile on charges and you will be convicted of something even though you did not do it.

The Judge will then step in and do his part in the scam by sentencing you to more time or a high security facility for your "lack of cooperation".
You see, DA's often become Mayors, and Mayors can do a lot for a Judge to whom they owe some favors.

The fact is that the entire system is designed to exploit the public and has nothing to do with justice. Your lawyer has no interest is fighting the system as he is paid very well to just tell you to go along.

Sounds like a bad habit to be in; makes you an easy target for a mugger. Either way there is a risk involved in doing something like that; you have to weight the good vs. the bad and make your decision based on that.

Ah the old "unexplained wealth" thing? Maybe the law on it is in need of fixing up.

I would really hate to live in a place where my behavior was influenced by a fear of being mugged. Personally I want to die before I go to hell, Why would you sentence yourself to hell while you are still living?

The law is fine. Like I said it is covered by the 5th amendment of the Constitution, and the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land. If there is a conflict between the Constitution and any State or Local law, the Constitution takes precedence. The problem is not the law, the law is clear. The problem is we have a corrupt and criminal legal system which refuses to follow the law because the people do not demand it.

When most people really understand the problems, their brain shuts down, then they dissociate. By presenting society coping with problems by the applications of solution, the social matrix of decision making in the node is created.

You are trading posts with a veteran of the 9/11 world.

There are about 65 pages dealing with "problems". Most people cannot even listen to the truth.

    http://algoxy.com/psych/9-11scenario.html

Seriously, those not initiated, who also have enough knowledge to understand details, go into shock, because this is not the ordinary 9/11 site. It is strictly facts and evidence used in FULL explanation.
