Curious... I've seen a lot of women and men who are brunettes change their hair to blond and while this might be a purely stylistic/artistic choice, I'm thinking it has something to do with the implication of being blond- vivacious, free, attractive, dynamic, etc. I guess this is two questions. First, for any who might know, why do people chose to go blonde? Second, for anyone, do you find blondes more attractive than brunettes on average? Are you likely to let a blonde take the lead more than a brunette? Just purely on looks, do you find blondes better or more satisfying to be around?
I look at the feet first....skew toes, bye-bye! When she passes the feet test it takes a while to get to the hair...by then I don't give a ****.
In my old age, more often than not whenever I attend sports events they are almost always high school level. Invariably, I am surrounded by teens who speak to each other about their life concerns. Dozens of time I have heard kids say to one another "I wish I was blond". In truth, only ONCE did I ever see some one say to another "wish I was brunette". Probably because the girl who said that got so many invitations for dates that she couldn't handle them all at once.
My wife is a natural blue-eyed blonde, so I like blondes. "yes dear". I am very partial to a subset of redheads, tho. And I agree with Lager, the eyes are sexier than the hair.
Although there might've, for a very long time now, been a discourse about "blonde=(female) beauty" which certainly might have had an effect on peoples perception of beauty. I'd say people therefore choose to dye their hair bair because 1.)to look more attractive and 2.)a stylish choice. However, nowadays brunettes take equally much place in media and I have even seen natural blondes going brunette. It is probably mostly just a fashion choice. Pretty much. Extending this a bit I feel in countries where the majority is dark, women tend to go blonde because the men tend to prefer this(especially true for Turkey) and in countries where the majority are lighter it seems to be the men prefer darker feautures, so the women dye their hair dark. I personally would say I have a slight preference for the combo of dark eyes/light hair, but it is not like I exclude women who look different. When all comes about beauty is a combination of mathematics and subjective preference for personality. Mathematic in the sense that it has been proven that universally people prefer a face that is symetric(note: "face", beauty is all about the face and little to do with hair/hair colour). Then of course a symetric face can turn ugly if the person is a (*)(*)(*)(*). And a less symetric face can turn very beautiful is the face has a fantastic personality.
To answer why do people chose to go blonde is because opposite attract and more than 95% people on the earth are brunette who looking for opposite.
I went blonde once (I think I was about 19 or 20 at the time). It just didn't look right, as I didn't have the complexion to go with it and I have brown eyes. I haven't done it since.
Blond(e) hair was considered a sign of high breeding, back in the 1800-early 1900's..... why, I don't know. The prized 'English Rose' of society was always pale skinned, blonde hair, blue eyed.
It's evolutionary. Light hair is sign of youth, children have lower levels of pigment than adults and many of us are light haired in our childhood and go dark in our adulthood. Something like that.
Dated blondes too but I can't say here why I like them. Let's just say if the collars and cuffs match, it's a win.
With dye and other hair products, I couldn't tell you who is really blonde and who isn't. I'm glad my girlfriend keeps her natural dark hair.
No blonde. Don't like it on men OR women. Looks sickly and weird. I'm brunette with brown eyes, and definitely prefer the same in men (though lighter eyes are ok .. it's just blonde hair I can't tolerate). There is one exception .. the same as so many others apparently. Redheads. O.M.G ... such divine creatures. If there's a full red beard attached, even more so. Freckles too? I'm done.
On men it looks ridiculous and boy-ish, but on women it is absolutely amazing. Freckles freak me out and is the very reason I do not like gingers.
Ive always preferred blonde. Brown hair is more common...so when I see a gorgeous/natural blond...male or female they just stand out. (the Christie Brinkley type.)
