Outside of the box Muslims

If you had been taught by academia how to assess original historical documents it would make sense. The Bible is a historical document.

I am not a True Believer. I simply do not assume that I necessarily know more than the preponderance of people on the planet.

 

I'm not defending the Quran..............100%, but I am defending most of it, as I defend most of the Christian Bible, and the Jewish bible, and every other bible ever made or printed.

Please let me explain, and please do try to calm down.

We have established that I do not believe in God...............good.

Although I do not believe in God or any of the writings from any bible that claims the words or scriptures came directly from God.........I do support the beautiful language & poems that give people solace from these bibles.........all of them, including the Quran which is filled with beautiful poems and beautiful scriptures that speak of nothing but peace & love.

Earlier this evening I watched a video of a woman who calls herself "Dom the Conservative" rail on & on about how evil Muhammad was, and about how he beheaded people, and rapped underage girls, and blah, blah, blah to infinity.

I did some more research on her and sure enough everything she's attached to or supports is nothing but Muslim smear campaigns, and web sites filled with lies & fantasies about Muslims. It's all nothing but Muslim hatred at it's best.

These people prop themselves up as "tellers of truth" or "prophets of the truth", and all they really are - are hate mongers.

She said something curious though that caught my attention. She said that there 's only one interpretation of Islam that matters, and that every other interpretation should be dismissed. (I thought about you and this thread)

I listed to her go on & on for 15 minutes as she brought up bad example after bad example of all the bad things Muhammad did, and the man did do a lot of bad things. I would be the first to admit that he isn't the best role model in the world for people to model their lives after or to follow.

But to the point........................

Who.................the hell....................is she.....................to say that millions of people that take only the good from the Quran should be dismissed.

Who.................the hell....................is she.....................to say that the only interpretation they should all follow is an interpretation that promotes death & destruction.

In affect what she's telling millions of people to do is to stop being peaceful and to take up the sword because (in her opinion) that's the only thing they should be concerned about

There are millions upon millions of people in this world that have decided to follow Islam, to read the Quran, and to live a peaceful life. Just as there are millions upon millions of other people following other religions who have all decided to live the same way.

To worship a God, and to treat others well.

1.6 to 1.8 of the worlds Muslims that exist............pay absolutely no attention to the things that "Dom the Conservative" bring up every day. That's a huge statement.

People of all faiths pick & choose what they want out of their religion, and they disregard the rest.

Religious leaders do this as well, and for all of humanity to keep banging on about how for Muslims................this phenomenon is magically different and that they all pay attention to every single word out of the Quran, and how they all perceive it to have the same meaning, and how they all must follow only the more harsh versus or scriptures of the Quran................is insane. (and that's what you're doing)

No rational, sane person on the planet would accept that type of logic, and that logic is flawed, yet it is thrown in our collective faces everyday.

FreedomSeeker..........believe what you have to, feel what you must, love who you will, hate who you will, but nothing you feel is going to change the fact that you cannot put 2 billion people in a box and say............"they all think & act the same way" and their bible is the reason for it, and their bible is flawed.

All bibles are flawed, all religions are flawed, and all people are flawed........................

Your over-simplifying all of this, and you can't do that because it's impossible to do

 

Yes, be BOTH agree on this, but one of us should stop defending their religious delusion. They have a right to believe that delusion, we both strongly agree, but stop propping up their delusion! Your Muslim family is so delusional that they believe there might be an invisible humanoid creature living in their nose (call a genie or "jinn") right now. NOTHING could be more insane - not even thinking that Harry Potter and Valdemort are actually real.

 

In other words............the more these people have children, the more we'll all be plagued with undereducated people that will wind up being drags on society pulling us all down............right?

Yes, but until and unless true believers in holy books being the Word of God and nothing else recant we will continue to rub their noses in the swamp of vicious immorality contained within so many of them. I'd have no problem with anyone picking and choosing which parts of their so called holy books to ignore if they had the courage to admit why the portions they reject are unworthy of their support. Most are totally silent on this.

I have family members that are Arabs/Muslims, Italians, Germans, Scotts, Blacks, Irish, Greek, and Native American Indians.

I'm fine with all of that as long as you have the same attitude & feelings towards every religion, and every people that follow all of those religions under the sun..............not just Muslims.

I respect freedom, I respect logic, I respect intellectual consistency, I respect science, I respect evidence....I respect a lot of stuff. Do I respect insane and harmful beliefs?......not really.

 

I don't have religious conversations with them when I either talk with them on the phone or go to visit them, and I'll tell you why.

Because the only thing we are all interested in "is seeing each other"

They hug me, they feed me, and treat me as if I'm some sort of celebrity.

Their eyes literally illuminate while I talk about all the things going on here in America, and all of them eagerly try to impress me with their English they've learned in school.

And each time I leave they walk (for miles) from their house to the airport to see me off as I stand there and cry like an idiot because I can't believe these kids love me that much to walk that distance.

I meant it in the sense that the link speaks of--it is a collection of old writings, some of which probably did suffer from later editing or miscopying.

Christians haven't dumped the old and still misuse passages from the OT to 'prove' Jesus is the messiah predicted in the old.
You can't have it both ways.
