Trump will likely win the GOP nomination tonight, but that's the end of the road for him. As a few of the more knowledgeable members on the forum (you know who you are) have pointed out the numbers don't work for Trump beyond the nomination.

In addition to lagging poll numbers compared to either Democrat Trump has disengaged minorities, moderates and women and you can't win without those groups. As the GOP nominee he will face very focused scrutiny by the media and he's got a lot more skeletons than a few emails. It's a field day for the press and Democrats, and maybe even the GOP establishment will pile on. The fact his skin is so thin will make him the poster boy for Narcissistic Victim Syndrome (yes, that's a real disorder).

So what's the psychology here? Talk about how trump can't win loudly and often enough to demoralize his supporters and those on the fence for him?

    Very weak sauce my friend!

To paraphrase the Village People "You' can't stop the Trump, nobody can stop the Trump."

Someone mentioned here that the GOP has changed the convention rules so that delegates don't even need to vote the primary winner on the first ballot. Clearly, mad desperation is setting in. I suppose I can't blame them, but that convention will be a sight to behold nonetheless.

I guess the GOP strategists ran all the numbers on Trump themselves and realized just what a loser he really is. He will drag down all local and Congressional Republicans as well. The GOP will essentially be committing political suicide with him as their presidential candidate. I wish I could feel sorry for them, but really, it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys.

    Karma is a b1tch!

I would also hope those few knowledgeable members also looked at the polls of Trump long ago, and realized he's continued to break the logical thought process behind many of them... he appeals to many democrats just left of center, and appeals to democrats who jump back and forth on the line any given day but return to the left... he appeals to angry americans who are sick of politicians we have, and once Hillary seals it up, some will be put in the middle once again...

I think people underestimate how tough Hillary will have running back to the middle, after being dragged way further left than she planned or wanted to go during the primary... Trump for the most part has always been in the middle dancing around calling everyone names... so he won't have much swinging to do assuming he wins, he'll continue running around in circles in the middle which could prove troublesome...

my ONLY question, is how he will do in a one on one match up in a debate... we just haven't seen it so far, he's used to either doing the attacking, or being attacked by multiple sources so you can spread the jelly so to speak... but when people are going to be biting into a sandwich and either get bread or massive amounts of jelly, will they continue eating the sandwich or take the bread off and spread the jam a round a little to even things out more... (I'm hungry so thats the analogy you get)... Hillary has always been good at demonizing and vilifying others, its far easier to call someone a racist, sexist, homophobic, than to defend that you're not... so she's always had the upper hand and ability to resort to the dirty road of forcing a defense, rather than defending... offense is a great power in politics, defense is almost surely a loss...

so the question remains, can Trump put up enough offense that Hillary is compelled to resort to a position of defense... I don't know, I've never seen him debate one person and have to be a power in that regard... I only know what he is like in a group setting when he can deflect upon multiple sources when the information he's confronted with deserves a "parry" instead of a "lunge"... what, can't a hungry guy think about fencing and food at the same time? hot dogs on a fencing stick... hmmm...

P.S. I'd still rather have a Kasich vs Sanders... at least I can choke down that sandwich... but Trump vs Hillary is like the "cinnamon challenge"... I just can't do it...

The GOP couldn't win with McCain or Romney yet that is who you are telling us to pick again?

    Lol

Face it, the fools on the left do not think any republican can win yet power always shifts doesn't it?

Oh but this time is different.

Your best bet is to go with Bernie sanders. If Hillary is the dems nominee, most democrats who don't vote for trump, will remain on the couch, with a bong, instead of going to the polling place.

If Hillary was believable, Bernie sanders would have already lost by now

End of the line? Oh yeah and don't forget he will never run, drop out before the beginning of the primaries and never be leading in the race......carry on.

In Michigan, Bernis Sanders trailed Hillary in most all the polls by over 20 points, perhaps the pollsters were not knowledgeable (they know who there are!)

Funny how they have to keep moving those goalposts.

Pretty soon it will be, "he will only be a one term president".

Flashback: in 1980 at about the current stage of the campaign Carter was beating Reagan by 2:1 margin. In 1992 Clinton was trailing both Perot and Bush... How did that work out?

But our liberal brethren don't need no stinking flashback, all this anti-trump hysteria coupled with bleating about wanting to run against him proves that they intuitively know they are in neck deep pile of sh&t.

So far people like you have made this same claim about fifty times.

I have no intention of voting for either major party but it is clear you are consistently wrong about trump.

Trump supporters have heard this many times, Chuck Todd on Meet The Press Sunday said it best . Dozens of Sundays have ended with everyone saying "he is done for" only to have his poll numbers RISE afterwards. The only thing different about this thread is he is trying to make it over a longer timeline. We'll see...

When they turn back towards the center for the election like all candidate do, I believe it will help Trump much more than Clinton. With how far left the Democratic party is at the moment it may actually hurt her. 6% is not a lot, heck Romney lot by 4% in the end.

Looking at numbers alone, around this time in 2012 Romney was down against Obama by 5.1% and most think that he could have won that race, but he choked pretty badly. Whether you agree with that or not, Trump is nowhere near the "end of the line" especially with how weak Hillary is compared to Obama.

Should be an interesting and good race. My question is though, if Trump does actually win, what will some of you on the forum do? The way some are acting they will nuke Texas or slit their wrists. It's worse than the childish Republicans with Obama, which was pretty bad....

There is not enough pot in Seattle nor beer in Chicago for you to ever be drunk enough to compare Trump to Reagan or even to use their names in the same paragraph. What were you thinking man!

Her support for NAFTA and the fact her husband signed it in to law is enough to bring all of her support to the darkside.

    Trump will not run.

If Trump Runs he will not lead the polls.

Even if Trump leads the polls, he will not win any primaries.

Even if Trump wins primaries, he will not win the Nomination.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> You are now here.
Even if Trump wins the nomination, he will not win the Presidency.

Even if Trump wins the Presidency, he will not get his agenda through Congress.

Even if Trump gets his agenda through Congress, he will not win re-election.

Even if Trump wins re-election, he will not be viewed by history as a Great President.

Trump figures out how to keep rotten left wing criminal thugs from showing up at his rallies:

Was thinking about your "end of the line" OP based on current polling and was giving you examples proving the utter absurdity of polls half a year before the actual election.

I get that but you cannot use Reagan's success as evidence that Trump can follow suit. Reagan was a charming, charismatic high caliber candidate with a platform he could articulate and an ability to work across party lines. If he were still alive today Trump wouldn't be qualified to scrape dog poop off his shoes.

Reagan was charming, charismatic blah blah blah at this stage of the campaign and he was still losing to Carter by 2:1 margin, his charm and charisma notwithstanding.... His charm and charisma didn't drastically improve between March and November 1980, his poll numbers did though. He won in q landslide. Which underscores the fact that general election polls so far out are meaningless.

PS lest we forget that unlike Reagan in 1980, Trump is behind by just a few points. His post convention bump may well put him in the lead for starters.

I'm not sure he'll win it tonite, but it shouldn't be much longer. He'll be forever known as the guy who came in and picked up the fruit that had already fallen to the ground. Low-hanging my white arse.
