But that's the problem. It isn't high. 600 fatal accidents per year vs 300-400 million privately owned guns isnt high at all. Car accidents however are.
505 fatal accidents, 356,000,000 guns. For every gun involved in a fatal accident, 705,000 were not. Conclusion: ban guns!
Do you not understand that 168 instances out of a pool of 2 million potential instances are low odds? - - - Updated - - - I don't think he gets math either.
This simply shows the level of person that populates the gun hero world. That's no big deal, are you fricken joking. Is there actually a number in your mind that is acceptable and then is there a number that you find unacceptable. Are you people a comedy act working together. Un fricken believable.
what is "un fricken believable is your pretense that you really care about the very rare cases of accidental shooting fatalities and its that which motivates your hard core gun banner arguments against lawful gun ownership, In reality, your litany of anti gun posts-on this board and others-are a sickening combination of lies, half truths and emotobabbling garbage that are motivated by a hatred of people who don't buy into your extreme left agenda
You hit the nail right on the head. He is not nearly as concerned for the people that voluntarily choose to own firearms and then have an accident. His focus is on attacking gun owners. This is evident by his language.
They're more like a wrecking ball on your styrofoam argument. Let's put gun accidents into perspective, shall we? Each year: Coconuts kill: 150 people Falling out of bed kills: 450 people Carbon monoxide kills: 430 people Gun accidents kill: 500-600 people Exposure to heat kills: 618 people Exposure to cold kills: 1300 people Hippopotamuses kill: 2900 people Poorly cooked food kills: 3000 people Your doctors bad handwriting kills: 7000 people Binge drinking kills: 80,000 people Hospitals kill: 400,000+ people per year How big of a problem are gun accidents again?
Cost annually 229 billion almost the same amount that is used by Medicaid, Everyone should have a gun. Whats your number of people and dollar amount that will make you even look at it. This is just blind simply non think.
And gang activity costs us $655 billion, which is where most of that $229 billion comes from. http://ncpc.typepad.com/prevention_...g-violence-on-businesses-and-communities.html Gun crime is the result. Gangs are the cause.
Each and every life is precious, however when you compare 600 accidents to more than 80 million gun owners the number of deaths does not outweigh the right to defend oneself which happens up to 2 million times per year. By your logic we should ban cars for the 100,000 or so that die from them.
You remind me of white supremacist I listened to on the radio once, They told him that over 7 million Jews were killed by Hitler and he went into a raving dance and said it wasn't even a million. gun heroes are a joke , this is the numbers -------- View attachment 43499 "Cost annually 229 billion almost the same amount that is used by Medicaid, Everyone should have a gun.
I doubt anyone who is an NRA supporter or a gun rights advocate thinks someone like you should have a gun given the amount of mindless and insane hatred you harbor for half the adults in the USA
You might want to read this article; the stats from the FBI and other government data indicate otherwise; even the NRA is in agreement with part of the article. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/06/gun...l-homicides-for-every-1-justifiable-shooting/
The number you're looking at is less than 20,000 INJURED. I said there are 600 FATAL accidents. And even using your numbers. More people died from car accident than injured by a gun accidentally. http://asirt.org/initiatives/informing-road-users/road-safety-facts/road-crash-statistics Up to 37,000 in the US die from car accidents and more than 2 million are injured. Lets ban cars.
Guns rarely used for self-defense in US — there are 32 criminal homicides for every 1 justifiable killing I think the article is very meaningful.
Who says you have to kill someone in order to call it a defensive use of a gun? Most of the time the mere presence of a firearm was enough to deter the threat. Sometimes shots are fired but missed. Sometimes shots are fired and wounded the assailant.
OK.... and how does this account for the number of times a gun is used in self-defense that did not involve actually pulling the trigger of said gun?
From your article.... "Contrary to what the gun lobby argues, personal firearms in the United States are rarely used for self-defense, a gun control advocacy group said Wednesday. Do you think this article has an agenda? VPC is the most rabid gun control group on the planet, in part funded by Bloomberg. I see no where in the article that the NRA agrees with the premise of this smear job article. Not every use of a gun in self defense results in the death of the perpetrator, or that the trigger is even pulled for that matter. Here is 613 pages of self defense shootings. I'd say defensive guns uses happen quite often. https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/armed-citizen.aspx
The article says so. If you have issue with it, best to speak to the author. - - - Updated - - - I didn't write the article; you'll have contact the author for that.
Here is the NRA qoute: “In fact, in a nation of more than 300 million firearms, it is striking how rarely guns are used in self-defense.” It would appear at face value that the NRA might disagree with your premise.
Your mistake is equating using guns to shooting.....try looking for stats for DGU....defensive gun use. You don't have to fire a gun to use it in self defense, eh?
