Why not mandate trigger locks and locked gun cases?

And yet there are hundreds of millions of legal firearms already in existence, with an estimated minimum of forty one thousand more being added to that amount on a daily basis, or one firearm being bought every three seconds. Such is not going to change, therefore there is no point in discussing it further.

If there were no or very few legal guns and gun crimes were covered by draconian laws and law enforcement, like in just about every other civilized nation on Earth, there would be only a very small amount of gun crime by the illegal guns left, like there is in those nations. All you are doing is desperately trying to assert that somehow, we can be shot by guns that aren't there, and we can't.

If such is truly the case, as is being asserted by yourself, why is firearms ownership continually increasing in the united states, and has been for many decades?

Other nations as heavily armed, have disarmed nearly completely, it can and has been done many times. If what I propose is impossible than why are you so upset by my ravings? You see that more and more people agree with me and that you are daily becoming less and less influential and it scares you.

And what exactly is this so-called "big difference" that is being referred to?

Again, how would the father know, or have reason to believe, that his son would commit the actions in question? What warning signs, if any, were present to indicate that such behavior would be a foreseeable development? By all accounts the student in question had never been in trouble, and was even on the honor roll. These are not the types of behavior witnessed by a student who intends to commit mass murder.

Instead of making it harder for everyone to get to they're guns, why not just make it harder for psycho's to get to our kids?

In the united states there are no, repeat none whatsoever, legal sources for the acquisition of narcotic substances such as heroin and cocaine for example. And yet despite this fact, the drug trade is positively thriving, and even the most draconian laws in place in the united states are doing nothing to deter this trade from being partaken in. The same failures would hold true if applied to firearms.

If your 17 year old wanted to get your gun he'd get it.
There were a lot more reasons than just mental health stuff that should have landed him in jail.

If he had been arrested for the domestic violence case, he would have been precluded.

We saw the same thing in the TX church shootings, where the Air Force did not enter his convictions into NICS.

About a month after that, DoD entered THOUSANDS of people into NICS. That's how widespread the problem was.

They are not and have not, as no other nation on the planet possesses anywhere near the number of firearms as the united states. The current estimate of the number of legally owned firearms in circulation is between three hundred million and five hundred million.

    Nails on a chalkboard.

A junior high school student once convinced his entire class to support a prohibition on water.

Others have supported the message that Donald Trump should be assassinated, as in murdered.

    Support by itself means nothing.

Irrelevant and off topic. You were provided an example of how your proposal is already in place, and still failing miserably.

    Irrelevant and off topic.

If you leaves the keys to a gun safe laying around that's no different than leaving the guns themselves lying around. It's not rocket surgery.

    And

    Weapons used in the shooting
Authorities have identified the gunman as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17. He was armed with a sawed-off shotgun and a .38 caliber handgun, according to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Last week, Abbott said that his information was that the guns were obtained from the suspect's father. However, a law enforcement official told CNN that authorities are still trying to determine whether the shooter got the two guns from his father.
Sawed-off shotguns are illegal without a permit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The .38 caliber handgun was purchased in the early 1990s, the official said.

Actually that was Justice Scalia who claimed that.

Clearly we need a change in the SCOTUS

WE ALL had guns when I was a kid, semi autos with large clips. There were many times as many guns available PER PERSON than today. And gun manufacturers are going out of business and declaring bankruptcy today.
Now I ask again for a LOGICAL, rather than an emotional answer. What has changed since 1964 when I had my first clip fed semi automatic 30-30, so did most of my friends, and we never even thought about killing. What has changed. These semi autos with clips have been around 100 years. However, the kids killing didn't start till 20 years ago, just after the internet and social media became into use, and shortly after abortion because common as a broken marriage.

Did semi-auto weapons "exist" in the 50s?

No one said they didn't. But they certainly didn't exist in anything LIKE the numbers we have now

We do not want dishonest judges. If we need a change, a constitutional amendment is what is needed. You are a fool to support justices changing the constitution by fiat, and not by amendment. You don't change it because you don't like what it says, and make **** up about what it means.

So you both want to live in a Nazi state. We have outlawed drugs, how is that working out. A lot of men died for you to have rights, and yet you will piss them away on a non problem created by the medial.

According to the population, almost everyone had a gun or two in the household. It means nothing, they were available and very easy to obtain. I bought my 30-30 clip fed semi auto at 14 years of age at a gun show. I had 15 round clips (3), no background check (a stupid idea, just make a black market for guns like it has drugs), and so did most of my friends, and we didn't kill anyone. Again, what had changed. It is certainly not the availability of guns, not the availability of People with guns. So stop looking for red herrings and put your thinking caps on.

WHAT HAS CHANGED???? SOMETHING HAD TO HAVE CHANGED. It has not been guns, nothing has changed there, so think think think, what has changed?

Not true. What we have are right wing interpretations of the 2nd Amendment that defy logic.(that overturned 200 years of established rulings)

Clearly we need a change in the SCOTUS

That is absolutely NOT true. In 1950 the ratio of guns to population was 4.7 to 10.

Now it is greater than 10 to 10

And you didn't buy that gun in the 50s.

Well I am personally in favor of including medical history in background checks for firearm purchases. I know why they are not included and I understand the laws behind why they are not included but I believe in regards to firearm purchases they should be included.

"Nutcase" doesn't show up on a background check, it should in my opinion.
