I wonder if she's the first or the first that's been reported? 7-year-old migrant girl taken into Border Patrol custody dies of dehydration, exhaustion https://wapo.st/2GhITrT?tid=ss_tw&utm_term=.36199bff1a27 A 7-year-old girl from Guatemala died of dehydration and shock after she was taken into Border Patrol custody last week for crossing from Mexico into the United States illegally with her father and a large group of migrants along a remote span of New Mexico desert, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Thursday. The child’s death is likely to intensify scrutiny of detention conditions at Border Patrol stations and CBP facilities that are increasingly overwhelmed by large numbers of families seeking asylum in the United States.
So, she was in the US, and died of conditions which were easily preventable. Well done Donald. On your watch, it is. Will you take the credit Donald?
Child of an illegal shows up at border and 8 hours later is having seizures and is never revived. Autopsy has not been performed, hospital conjectures it's fever, septic shock (as in, a massive infection affecting the organs) and dehydration. And from that the media decides she died because she wasn't given a glass of water. Maybe if these illegals didn't break the law and place their children in danger they wouldn't get infections so serious they cause seizures and death despite Western medicine.
Seems unusual, do we know if the authorities were aware of her conditions, how is dehydration and shock diagnosed? I'd figure water would prevent dehydration, don't know about "shock", figure it would be quite strong if lethal.
If you don't mind pointing out where exactly in my post I did, in which sentence, I'd be very appreciative. Thank you. The hospital listed: 1. Septic shock, a massive, pervasive infection of the vital organs. 2. Fever 3. Dehydration presumably the latter two are complications of the first, the article wasn't clear.
Do I have to drag you, kicking and screaming if necessary, through an explanation that she is not an 'illegal?' There are two separate groups. Those seeking asylum under the UNHCR Convention (of which she was one with her Family,) and those who enter and never seek asylum, and have no intention or reason to seek asylum....ie illegals.
When Border Patrol takes any child at the border whether with or without parents, the child's health and welfare should come before anything....ANYTHING. Children should be checked immediately by a medic or anyone for signs of dehydration. It's only common sense.
If she was checked and found to have a temperature above 105 degrees it would have been immediately attended and documented to even if they couldn't save her. STOP MAKING EXCUSES!! This should NEVER happen.
Common sense also tells us it is unreasonable to assume every Border Patrol agent who ever comes across a child with or without parents crossing illegally is qualified to identify medical need or can get someone who is to make a diagnosis. How long was this unexamined child in Border Patrol custody?
Child of an illegal I said. As for whether her mother was an illegal, you need only consult legitimately the first sentence of the article in the OP: "A 7 year old girl died of dehydration and shock after she was taken into Border Patrol custody last week for crossing from Mexico to the United States Illegally with her father and a large group of migrants across a remote span of New Mexico desert." You don't cross in remote areas to declare asylum. Not my fault you didn't read the first line of the linked article.
Again, she died of 1. Septic shock, a massive, pervasive infection of the vital organs 2. Fever 3. Dehydration According to the hospital. The implication, when the Washington Post wilfully excludes septic shock from their list in the first paragraph, is that she could have been saved with a glass of water and a cold blanket over her forehead. This verges on fake news. I tend to give a pass on lie by omission so I'll let them off this time.
Sadly, this isn't even an isolated incident. https://www.shelbylawfirm.com/blog/...igration-detention-center-can-be-deadly.shtml
They are ALL trained in first aid, it doesn't take much more than that to determine a life-threatening situation. Again, excuses..... that's all we're going to hear from you Trumpers, excuses, just like him.
It's worth noting that over the 2 years examined there were 15 cases of medical negligence when they were detaining 40,000 people per day. A rate of 0.00005% according to your link. I can get around increased medical care at these facilities though, it would be nice to cut that tiny, tiny rate to zero if possible.
The terminology in the Article is loose and technically cute. Entry into a Country to seek asylum is NOT illegal. Now, you either accept that as fact, or doom yourself to a level of stupidity I had not previously observed in your posts. It matters not how remote or where the point of entry was. Totally irrelevant.
What did you mean, "is that she could have been saved with a glass of water and a cold blanket over her head" ?
By not mentioning the severe, pervasive infection of her vital organs they're trying to say she died of thirst.
You don't appear to have any medical knowledge at all. Severe dehydration isn't remedied by giving the patient a glass of water and a cold blanket over their head. Sepsis was listed as a 'possible' cause of death which cannot be determined conclusively without an autopsy. A human can only live without water for 3 days, trust me I know, I'm a nurse. I spent time in the hospice unit and for those people who chose not to accept further treatment and want to die, it takes 3 days without water to accomplish that. At her stage of dehydration she probably didn't have a chance to survive. Body organs start shutting down. Yes, it could have all started with an infection but if she went days without food or water I would take an educated guess that it was dehydration that killed her. If she had an infection and had vomiting and/or diarrhea, then that would also contribute to dehydration.
Very wise of him to know who and why when the CBP didn't even report it for a full week. How many others have died that we'll never know about?
