What? Isn't it a woman's right to kill her baby?

 

If you read the hunter's remarks, he said they killed mature elephants not an infant as represented in the photo. Either he was lying or someone photo shopped the young elephant into the photo. Knowing that the anti hunting groups will stoop to anything to stir up their ignorant base, I would bet that it was photo shopped.

 

There are times when younger animals are harvested it is simply because there are too many of them competing for turf and food.

That may be true. However, in this case I don't think it is. In addition, the most troublesome elephants are the young adults not young elephants such as the one in the photo. Generally the ones that are harvested are the ones that are raiding crops or killing other animals on the reserves. Rogue elephants have been known to kill large numbers of rhinos and other rare animals.

 

It could also be pricing, older elephants with larger tusks cost more, much more to take.

 

There is nothing to defend, the hunt was legal and justified wildlife management.
