Iran sends angry message after shooting down US drone aircraft https://edition.cnn.com/videos/worl...aim-vpx.cnn/video/playlists/around-the-world/ If the drone was shot down while flying in international airspace should the US retaliate with a military response?
If they didn't take military action in response to attacks on civilian vessels going about their business, I don't think they could justify it in response to an attack on an unmanned spy plane which may or may not have drifted in to Iranian territory.
Agreed, nobody was killed and its just going to end up he said, she said as to the location and or route of the drone. Now the cruise missiles that have been hitting KSA over the last two weeks are more deserving of a response if you blame them on Iran. That is if you are looking for a reason.
One difference is the attack on commercial shipping was not an American vessel. Another is there was controversy as to whether or not Iran did it. This was a U.S. Military aircraft and Iran admits they shot it down. A military response is appropriate.
This attack validates claims the other recent attacks were indeed conducted by Iran. At some point everyone will have to accept this.
Them claiming responsibility does not validate anything. Its a drone used for spying, and if it violated their airspace it can be shot down. Its not like it was fighter jet with a pilot in it. If we want a reason to attack there are plenty of them to use including them going over their limit on nuke fuel next week, its what everything in the world and what the domestic critics thinks about the attack that matters to the administration. If they dont care about those; by all means attack, but not over a drone.
A drone is a U.S. Military aircraft and shooting it down was an act of war. Any claims that it was violating their airspace rings hollow with what they have been doing lately and this drone has extremely long range surveillance capabilities that make it entirely unnecessary to violate their airspace which makes Iran's claim absurd on its face.
Like I said in my first post, its all been "claims" lately and the international community is not doing well with the he said, she said. If the administration wants to cast the die over a drone, then its up to them but I would prefer any of the other reasons as just as valid. And as I have said they will have to weigh the risks of the international response, the domestic/political response, and the military response.
If the drone was shot down while flying in Iranian airspace, the Iranians have the right of way. It seems to have fallen in Iranian territory. Operator error by the drone operator?
the exact position of the drone, when it was destroyed, is a known fact by the military, they have gps data streaming constantly from them, the only question is whether or not our military will come clean with the data...
He said she said? Iran admits it shot this drone down and I clearly stated why their claim of violating their airspace is ridiculous. There is absolutely no need to do that with this long range surveillance drone.
Its not a matter of that, its he said she said...... Iran will have data as well like is always the case in incidents like this, for the Administration its does the risk outweigh the reward. I say not over a drone, its not like there wont be more escalation. Would be better to attack next week when they breach the limit if thats the end game.
Something like Trump's limited and ultimately futile strike on Syrian bases? How do we respond to a surveillance drone being shot down?
yep, you're right, trump should just go to a ballgame with a killer dictator and completely ignore the attack
LOL and who are you? I can think of a reason, one would be having it shot down LMAO. But in all fairness your assesment might be correct but it does not mean a thing to incidents like this. We have data and a claim and so do they. Just like with the tankers and the actions of the houthis in Yemen and the militias in Syria in relation to Iran, all claims with no way to validate them to the domestic/politcal and international communities.
An active war zone is not really comparable to what Iran did but it may be an active war zone soon if they keep it up
If we follow what the right wingers want, we obviously invade the country with a 500k+ strong army and kill as many of them as possible.
Some countries will never have enough evidence to validate a military response by us but thank God Trump puts America first.
Not yet. We need to de-escalate the current situation but let Tehran know that we will not allow them to have a nuclear military.
I didn't say that. I'm asking how we should respond to this. I'm serious. What is an appropriate response?
Trump campaigned on "getting along" with the rest of the world and an overall islationist platform, did he not? I guess even he can't cure the right wing of its bloodlust, though. You people are like bloodthirsty orcs.
intel gathering and all it's participants have always been expendable, even the human ones on the ground... been that way since the beginning... it's the media & the people that cry outrage and then force the hand of some politician into action...
Can the POTUS call an attack on a country not on official war ? someone told me they can't... In Israel we don't make a lot of fuss on attacking small targets here and there, It's how we greet each other in the Middle East, no attacks is extremely rude !
