Not true. They've been trying to get the European signees to find ways to get around the American sanctions and honour the spirit of the deal. They have have shown restraint in honouring the deal for monthsin the face of American provocation after provocation and sanctions. Now that Europe has failed to show any spine in standing up to the US, and it is looking like the US wants war, they are moving to restart enrichment in order to try and defend their interests.
I guess that's another way to state it...... In my mind the deal would've been bad for America because they would still be enriching uranium and the reason I believe so is because look how fast they began doing so after the deal was no more. Now you can say they're only doing it to defend themselves but it seems like that was on their minds the entire time so why would we give them any concessions
Iran was honouring the letter of the deal everyone agrees. They continued to abide by the deal for months after US imposed sanctions violating the terms You are not giving any concessions. US unilaterally reneged on the deal and is now threatening war.
How do you know that they were? Every inch of Iran land above and below ground was searched? Seems like the built centerfuges pretty fast huh
If they fired a long range missile at the drone, we know where it came from...that should be a hole in the ground soon.
They are allowed to have centrifuges. It was the level of enrichment that was in question. As a signee of the non-preliferation(sp) treaty, Iran is perfectly within it's rights to have a domestic nuclear program.
Oh come on, everyone knew that Iran could build nukes very fast if she had to. That was why the deal was made and it was working but the US was wanting war with Iran so it decided to let Iran build nukes by giving up on the deal...and it is over a year since that was done. Why do you expect to be able punish people to the extent that they will die for keeping a Treaty and expect them to go on keeping it!
The deal was working. Everyone knew that. I think it was about 12 years in the making, begun by Bush. The EU promised to make it so that Iran could survive despite the US's word meaning nothing and they have not. Because of this and because Iran like all countries needs to eat, they are gradually moving out of the deal. If the EU manages to keep its word, Iran will stop. If the EU does not and/or if there is aggression, Iran will have nukes before you sneeze.
So it's impossible that Iran could've tried to have their cake (nuclear deal) and eat it too (build nukes in hiding)..... Seems naive to me
I think Iran was willing to negotiate in good faith about limiting it's nuclear program in order for sanctions relief. I think they would have given up the idea of a weapons program as long as relations with the west could be normalized. Then US reneged. Iran has it's hardliners and hawks too and they were willing to reluctantly go along as long as there was economic benefit. Ironically US reneging has proven to everyone America cannot be trusted and weakened the moderates position. Now war is imminent(sp?) Very dangerous and not very smart.
"I think Iran was willing to negotiate in good faith about limiting it's nuclear program in order for sanctions relief." What makes you so sure that they wouldn't have covertly continued nuclear development. Their history isn't in their favor. As far as war I hope not..... On 1 hand Iran shouldn't shoot down our equipment but on the other I think Americans would bristle at the thought of an Iranian drone so close to our airspace.
If a drone from some hostile nation flew into US airspace,... you think the US wouldn't shoot it down?
They won't do **** about it. Iran is not another Arab country that they can attack how they want. Especially not after the disaster in Syria.
How does a drone from a hostile power flown OVER the USA in any way equate with a drone over international space?
Actually, you do make a very good point! When American military personnel and American assets are threatened and/or destroyed for no valid reason, in INTERNATIONAL air or over international waters, he would be correct in acting in his legitimate role as Commander-in-Chief and ordering military intervention/retaliation ON THE SPOT. The Democrats in Congress would run around in circles with their hair on fire, screaming "Impeach! Impeach!"... but it would be futile. Trump would have that right, and, more importantly, that RESPONSIBILITY! But I really don't think he will. There's something else going on here, and I don't know what it is -- yet. All of this is in sharp contrast to what "Messiah" Obama did in 2011, resulting in the overthrow of the Libyan government -- with which we had been AT PEACE for many years. Libya had done nothing to threaten the United States at all, but Obama deliberately interfered illegally in the Libyan civil war and authorized the use of vastly superior air attacks to overthrow their government. And Libya has been in chaotic turmoil, and fought over by different factions of violent Muslims ever since. We even had to shut down our embassy there five years ago and it never has been re-opened.... Great job, Obama! He should have been impeached for deliberately breaking the War Powers Act!
German Chancellor Angela Merkel - no friend of the USA - stated on June 19th that there was "strong evidence" that Iran was responsible for the attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. She said that she wanted the conflict resolved peacefully and said Germany would tell all sides and especially Iran, "that the situation should not escalate." Apparently, Iran decided to ignore Merkel.
If the drone really has that long range of surveillance, it seems more legitimate to shoot it down. If the Iranians were buzzing us with similar drones flying a similar distance from the US, with long range surveillance, we would shoot those ****ers down.
