European history is almost all war and intolerance all the time. Surely you know that. IOW, you can not find an example of America threatening to do anything to Europe except leave.
We didn't ask permission before we went in and we didn't need their permission to stay. They knew that and so did Obama. He was fulfilling the Democrat demands for a pullout. Honestly I thought that would have been his first order of business after all the fuss Democrats made from day one. I was disappointed when he did not because I knew it would result in a fuster cluck just as it did. Democrats knew that too which is why it took so long. Our people are under the UCMJ as always. As for Iraqi Parliament, who cares?
Wasn't ISIS predominately Sunni? Putin and Assad will remain allies as long as Assad allows the Russian naval port on the Mediterranean. Israel will allow both Assad and the Russian Syrian influence in exchange for an under-the-table agreement with the Saudis, brokered by Kushner/Trump. We sold the Saudis a half trillion dollars worth of weapons without so much as a peep from Netanyahu...who is now between the rock and the hard place in Israeli domestic politics. The Saudis Royal Family and their 10,000 Princes hide their monarchy behind Islam...leading to intra familial fights leading to events such as 9/11 and ISIS. As oil fades in importance in the global economy, so Saudi influence will fade with it, while both the U.S. and Russia are large enough to survive the transition to non-fossil fuels. How the Saudis handle the transition will be interesting, but as harsh as it may seem and of which they're undoubtedly aware, they could easily become more trouble than they're worth.
Presumably, the Iraqis care. You appear to be an old battleship fan. The days of Admiral Mahan and colonialism are gone. In Iraqi, once we failed to discover WMD, we sought U.N. help and legitimacy, under international law. Once the new Iraqi government was established, our continuing presence was subject to their approval and our status went for "occupying force" to "guests." Maybe you need to catch up.
Since WW2 this may be the longest period in Western Europe that they weren't killing each other in one silly war or another.
All War, All theTime, All ThroughTime = Europe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_conflicts_in_Europe
So far no evidence that Putin/Russia, as opposed to the USG, helped create or support ISIS. Given what you know about the KSA it would have been better if the US had let Saddam sort out the KSA.
Regardless it's time to quit throwing good money after bad; what ramifications in Europe will be will be.
For you! The father of lies will scream and squirm if ever you surrendered and gave up the deceitful acts which further his agenda - Jeannette
The US armed and supported AQ and ISIS and purposely did not attack ISIS because ISIS was advancing on Damascus and threatened Assad. John Kerry was caught on tape. The Russians and Syrians attacked ISIS. The Russians were the good guys it hurts me to say. The US backed evil. This post is broadly about the US involvement and BS in the Middle East, not about Iraq. Re Kerry, see below https://whowhatwhy.org/2017/01/08/leaked-kerry-audio-shows-hidden-syria-backstory/ I do not post here often so I will state my biases up front. I am very pro Trump and pro Israel and have never voted for a Democrat. I consider myself far right. I am very anti communist but smelled a rat when NATO advanced east after the Russians moved their troops east. I do not like Max Blumenthal because of all his Anti Trump snark, anti Israel remarks, and 'Islamophobia' remarks. I read The Management of Savagery by Max Blumenthal. it is very good with less anti Trump crap then usual. He could have left out the parts about Trump and Islamophobia. It is worth reading. Max talks about his book below, the best parts are from 30 min to 1 hour 35 minutes. See also Max on Syria., Great stuff. Kim Iversen has some thoughtful remarks on the Saudis recently and also the Kurds.
@patentlymn Don't forget this dirtbag.....no doubt he was more concerned with kickbacks than the welfare of America:
My country has not been to war since we fought against Napolean. Surely you don't know very much. The U.S. has never stopped waging war. Not a single day as far as I know. The U.S. invaded Yugoslavia not long ago, orchestrated the military coup in the Ukraine, invaded U.K. territory on Grenada, and has been threatening Russia on a daily basis. The mere presence of armed U.S. troops on European soil is threat enough.
Americans in the ME are the biggest threat ... as well as Americans in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. The good news is that they don't present much of a threat in Australia.
America is the beacon of light in the world. America is not perfect, but I can't imagine the world controlled by China, Russia, Iran or Turkey.
Boy oh boy, you guys invaded Iraq based on a lie, which caused 100's of thousand of casualties and later on resulted in the birth place for ISIS: https://edition.cnn.com/interactive/2014/09/world/isis-explained/ If you ask me, which is the worst evil, I would even put the US before Russia and China, but I bet it is easier living a lie. Please open you eyes, it is 2020 now, reg.
No other country has the right to tell Iran what to do Americas government is a total piece of tyrannical shiit See how easy that was
