Please don't say Switzerland - at least not with a straight face.
Your knowledge of non-waring nations of Europe is limited to only Switzerland? I guess they don't teach European geography/history you your country, huh? LOL!
Yes, the "geniuses" within the US administrative state decided to encourage the creation of the IS. Russia/Putin, Syria/Assad and Iran have always been the principal opposition to ISIS. I can't say that makes them the "good guys", but it seems rather clear that the USG's strategic thinkers have been, at best, the 'stupid guys'. IOW, SNAFU. Tyvm for the good sources.
Europeans are always making war on each other somewhere. That beacon of light disappeared a long time ago. I would say in 1963 when our religious values took a downward turn, and our nation along with them. The worse horror would be Turkey. Their intolerance and brutality towards others is legendary - though they do manage to keep it well hidden -thanks to their strategic position and a compliant US media. (I can't help but wonder if my favorite Hurriyet columnist and satirist, is now lingering in some Anatolian jail?) Next worse would be Iran because of the cultural restrictions imposed by Islam. As for Russia, they do respect other cultures and 123 languages are spoken there. Most are taught in school together with Russian, so I don't think it would be too bad except for the liberal totalitarians, who insist on imposing their standards on everyone regardless of whether it runs contrary to the will of the majority. As for China, I don't know. Their system and indifference towards the welfare of their own people leaves a lot to be desired. I know the N. Koreans would pay their government to work in Russia, since they considered it paradise compared to China - and yet Russia can't even compare to a nation like Norway.
This video show what Europe looked like 1,000 years ago to today. Borders changed as weaker countries were swallowed up by their more powerful neighbors. Putin wants Ukraine back because he wants to re-set the clocks back to the former Soviet Union Russian empire era. 1942 – Expanding and Contracting Germany At the furthest extent of Axis territory in World War II, Germany and Italy controlled a vast portion of continental Europe. After the war, however, Germany again became fragmented into occupation zones – this time, overseen by the United States, France, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union. Germany would not be made whole again until 1990, when a weakening Soviet Union loosened its grip on East Germany. 1991 – Soviet Dissolution In the decades following WWII, the political boundaries of the European map remained relatively stable – that is, until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Almost overnight, the country’s entire western border splintered into independent nations. When the dust settled, there were 15 breakaway republics, six of which were in Europe. https://www.visualcapitalist.com/2400-years-of-european-history/
I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who fought in the Pacific theater who would agree with your assessment.
The soldiers we have there do have families waiting for them back home, for me this war is over and I think the Iraqi government now is enough capable to handle the nation. It's time to bring them out now and just keep on supporting the Iraqi government, their tour of duty I think is already complete.
It was war. We knew who was the enemy and who was the bad guy and fought to win. Now I say we but I didn't actually take part in it but I had uncles who did. The one that was in the Pacific hated the Japanese till he died based on what he saw. No, America didn't start the war and owe no apologies for how they fought it.
Smedley Butler USMC disagrees with you, regarding the criminality of the US military. Personally, I find him far more credible than you in that regard.
Second bomb was a war crime, period. But you guys always look the other way, be it in Iraq or else. You still believe you have the moral upper hand, well you haven't.... Reg.
Have you got proof that this number (1m) is correct? Sometimes I hear figures are in the low 100's, but hey, this (Iraq) was/is a mainly Muslim country, so most on this form can't give a **** in the first place.... Reg.
No it wasn't and yes we do. I think more civilians died in the fire bombing of Tokyo not to mention places in Germany, Dresden was it? War is hell isn't it? Blame those governments that simply refused to surrender which they eventually did.
