They're all riled up, because of these (George Floyd) protests, and they have a lot of catching up to do because they've been cooped up indoors so long, because of the shutdown associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
We saw how the Chicago murder rate hit a record low earlier this year with so many people staying indoors in isolation. It appears now there will be a bounce-back.

Nine just NINE unarmed blacks killed by police in ALL of last YEAR and only 2 of those were unjustified. Now which are they marching against? Which is the subject of a Congressional hearing?

 

Cops kill less than 10 unarmed Black people in an entire year and blacks kill 18 in 1 day in one city and COPS ARE THE PROBLEM?! Whites people are the problem? Imaginary Systemic racism is a reason to burn down cities murder people and cause 10s of millions of dollars?

Wake up black people!!!! White people aren’t the problem. Cops definitely aren’t the problem. There are far bigger things that need to be addressed but go ahead and keep blaming EVERYONE ELSE. Who’s lives really matter huh? Obviously not anyone in the inner cities dying every week. Not the black people murdered just for defending a store. Not the cops murdered for just wearing a uniform.

It’s really hard to accept BLM when they continue to avoid Real Discussions and instead turn to the same old excuses.

There is a blood bath every night when it’s warm.
Not a peep from black lives matter. Those dead blacks aren’t important - being murdered by another black is an honor and counts like a natural death. These days they could even write them off on WuFlu.

 

There are some people curiously missing from this thread.

If all black lives matter, then why is the left so silent on these murders? I'm guessing it's because their main goal is to unite blacks for the upcoming election. If they fired them up about all the murders being committed in blue areas, then not only will blacks be divided during the election, but they'll start seeing the racism their own politicians subject them to and the media who ignores it.

 

Chicago... isn't that 'MAGA country'? Prolly Trump supporters doing it all and just framing gangbangers.

 

It was the same back in the late 1970's when I lived in Alsip but worked at S. 59th and Lowe. It was dangerous enough during the day but we could not work a night shift and any overtime was just an hour and we were outta there by 4:30. I left and moved back South but the company I worked for had to close that plant because of breakins and theft and the community lost about 75 jobs because of it.

Right-wingers eat this stuff up. They can not seem to understand the difference between police officers and thugs. One of them is charged with upholding the law and protecting the public. If they do not do that consistently they lose the trust and respect of the public they serve. The other lives outside societies laws and live by their own set of laws of the street add to that easy access to any weapon they can afford and somebody's gonna get hurt.
The higher the density of poverty the greater the crime rate. That is true of all cultures and all races. Add weak gun laws and you get a blood bath. The snickering attitude of the right-wingers is simply willful ignorance.

 

Well, if by far the main cause of death is thugs, and not police officers, then thinning out the police forces is not going to help, is it?
But that is exactly what the leaders of several of these cities have called for.

I was born and reared in Chicago, IL. We lived in a prominent area so I never had to face the "evils" waiting out there. Imagine my surprise when I relocated to a Southern state and mentioned that I was from Chicago. Almost 99.9% of the people said "Oh, that's where Al Capone operated and there are gangs on every corner." I understand much of this comes from stereotyping but it's bizarre to hear so many horrible things about one's town that simply aren't accurate. I, and my three siblings, made it and none of us has ever encountered a gang or even a rowdy group. This is why I like to explore things and not just make random bullet points about others. More often than not, it's not the whole picture.

 

Because there is high violence in inner urban area BLM is a charade?

 

Actually, in a long shot, if blacks properly policed themselves and reduced their black on black crime, then the stereotype of them committing most of the crimes would vanish and they would not be targeted by cops so much.

 

What don't you get that Black Lives Matters is a protest against police brutality. The black community has been protesting inner city murder for years.

The police show up after the shooting to clean up the mess. People think the public could be better served with increased funding in social serves, getting the bad boys off the street (without incarceration), doing something about the root cause...poverty.

 

Do you not understand that policemen are just as human as everyone else?

When teachers crank out failing students or molest their students, what is the left's response? Give them more money and they'll do better.

When blacks murder each other by the thousands, what is the left's response? Give them more money and they'll do better.

Christ almighty, when Iran cries out death to America, what is the left's response? Give them more money and they'll do better.

When the very few police do what blacks do to each other day in and day out, what is the left's response? Protest against them, ambush and murder them, and then finally defund all of them.

Killing unarmed black people is just the tip of the iceberg. The black community fears and mistrusts the police. That did not come out of thin air. That came from a long history of racist and brutal behavior on the part of the police. They are felt to be an occupying force and receive little cooperation. That needs to be fixed don't you think? The right is clueless on how to do that.

 

It fixes itself as the black community fixes its behavior.
