The GOP-controlled state senate ordered the audit, set to formally get underway this week, which may be one of the most absurd and alarming consequences to date of Donald Trump’s baseless lies about the 2020 election. It will be executed by a private Florida-based company. It also reportedly will be supported from far-right lawyer Lin Wood and observers from the far-right news network One America News Network.

The audit will be solely focused on Maricopa county, the largest in the state and home to a majority of Arizona’s voters. Biden narrowly defeated Trump in the county, a crucial battleground that helped the president win Arizona by around 10,000 votes. The audit will include a hand recount of all 2.1m ballots cast in the county, a process expected to take months.

Big government conspiracy-oriented Arizonian Republicans are using taxpayer dollars, in part, to finance an extremely questionable audit of the state's 2020 presidential ballots based on the delusions of Sore Loser Donnie's false claims of voter fraud. Presently, no reporters or Democrats are allowed to monitor the audit at the processing level, just a video feed of the audit at a distance, and observers can view it at a distance inside the complex as well.

“At this point, additional audits will have little value other than to stoke conspiracy theories and partisan gamesmanship – or worse,” the groups, which included the Carter Center in Atlanta and the Brennan Center for Justice, wrote in a letter to the Arizona senate earlier this month. “In short, this appears to be a decision driven by politics rather than a search for the truth.”

Hopefully one county is just the beginning. Dems gotta get that Supreme Court packed quick.

 

Since the audits cost money, you typically focus on auditing the counties that make a difference in the outcome. Democrats do it, too. Like Gore and the four counties in FL he wanted to recount 30 times.

 

Especially since it's sort of a 'kick start' to get the trumpers contributing more money. As long as they play the 'stop the steal' card there's a s*** load of people who keep sending their money to trump.

 

Those recounts happened only when the outcome wasn't decided. Biden has been sworn in. If this is about changing results, it's too late for that. If this is about preventing future fraud, they should have audited the entire state, but we know why they won't.

 

What do you feel the current SCOTUS can do?

Even if it was the largest fraud the world has ever seen — ignoring that every audit done shows it was secure — they have no mechanism to reverse the election.

Even if it was 9-0 of the most partisan POS justices y’all could find — there is nothing that could be done.

I heard that the idiots in the GOP led state legislature hired a Kracken like conspiracy website owner who claims that the votes were really counted in Germany then switched in Spain and that US soldiers were killed in a battle over the servers in Europe. Total nutbag Louis Gohmert advanced that ridiculous theory right after the election was called for Biden last January 7th. Spending taxpayer money to fund whacky conspiracy nuts is the best the GOP can come up with after losing two Senate seats and the Arizona electoral votes last year. The Trumpist GOP has lost its marbles and is grasping at straws and pissing up ropes at every turn.

 

Let them waste their time and taxpayer money to polish trump’s seditious turd. The voters will see the results. Just make sure that they don’t cheat. It’s in their blood.

Trump doesn't pay for stuff. I find it so bizarre that people (who are NOT billionaires) keep sending him money. If he believes what he's claiming, he should be able to frontload some cash for the investigations. The fact that he doesn't should be a clear indication to his people that he's full of it.

You should read up on "fascism". Most of it started on what we would call "the left" here.

Definitions of "left and right" in Europe aren't the same as they are here. "Conservative and liberal" also have different meanings there.

As a simple example, a "conservative in the UK" might have been someone who wanted to preserve the monarchy.

Clearly that's different than a "conservative" in the US, which would have wanted to throw off the monarchy.

 

Fascism can be left or right just like socialism, democracy, republicanism and communism along with monarchies ...To your surprise it can also emanate in centrist...Which is what we have along with state capitalism...They used to call it plutocracy but they changed to fascism because it pays better. Did you notice the nationalist and populist which side are they on?
