Anyone claiming a woman can't/shouldn't be president, simply because she is a woman, I'm saying is exhibiting misogynist thinking.

    Yes.

Among other things, yes, war in which the Bible was used as justification.

What the hell happened to your "depends on the reasoning" standard?

    Justification for what?

Honest question, are you reading the entirety of my posts before responding?

How is that any different to saying that women are not best suited to be combat soldiers?

I'm getting a real sea lion vibe, here. Feel free to start a thread about the Bible and justification for violence if you're that interested. We are far afield from this thread's topic at this point.

Same response as the Bible question: start a new thread. I'm not going any further off topic.

When will your daughter be allowed to read books which haven’t been censored by you?

Irrelevant. On,-line descriptions seldom match what is taught in school as teachers tend to inject thier personal views.

Political propaganda of any type should not be shown in schools. If high schools actually taught critical thinking skills instead of how to be obedient, then it wouldn't be a big issue.

Completely- it refers back to my initial response to the OP.

Of course times have changed, but I'm unaware of how our laws have changed in regard to exposing children to pornography.

Incredibly clueless and behind the times if you believe young people need the educators in their schools to become aware of the world. Furthermore, as you pointed out, times have changed - children have many more windows into the world today than we had when we were young.

As far as teaching kids skills such as literacy, math and science, that is the job we are paying teachers to perform.

    Strawman.

I'm not hassling teachers for doing their job. I'm a product of the public schools adjacent to Loudon County and I'm grateful to my teachers for the job they did. If I'm "hassling" public school educators for anything it's for doing things that aren't their job - in the case of LCPS, that would be subjecting children to Critical Race Theory indoctrination and exposing them to the "NSFW" material mentioned in the title of this thread.

Sure, lets continue the nonsense about a large penis leading to a superior sex experience. Let's get uptight about any mention of sex so we can make the next generation as uptight as older folks.

I was talking about my course materials, online by 1995. I started teaching computer science in the early 1980s and worked with computers from the mid-1960s.
Course materials reflect the teacher's personal views. Isn't that enough for you?
I taught critical thinking skills. I did it by getting students to identify and analyze propaganda. They studied logical fallacies.

You can't teach history without looking a propaganda.

Often, ideological propaganda purveyors present a self-serving, sensationalized, distorted account to the ideological zealots who follow them.

It behooves rational folks to, at least, ascertain a more complete understanding of the matter.

No student is required to read any material that a parent might find objectionable for any reason - allowing for the wide range of sensitivities one inevitably encounters.

LCPS OFFERS PARENTS OPTIONS IN SELECTION OF READING MATERIALS

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Loudoun County School Board, several speakers criticized optional reading selections being offered in the school division’s high schools.

Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) reminds parents that if they feel a book is not appropriate for their student, they may request an alternate text be assigned. (When a reading assignment is optional, there are several selections available.) There will be no academic penalty for a student should they request an alternate text to fulfil an assignment.

If a parent or member of the community feels a book is inappropriate for student use, they may submit a formal request for the Reconsideration of Instructional Materials outlined in School Board Policy 5045.

LCPS recognizes that its students and families come with a host of varying life experiences, values and sensitivities. The school division also understands that secondary textbooks, both classic and contemporary, curricular and self-selected, may have sensitive content and therefore offers options for students and families.

For these reasons, LCPS has a deliberate set of School Board adopted policies and procedures to ensure instructional materials meet the interests and needs of our community.

The book is a lesson in BS if it's claiming a big dick is necessary.

Well, aren't you the biggest snowflake or what?

The Right loves to dunk on The Left and make fun of them for being triggered by lack of minorities and women in works of fiction and here we see the same kind of people get just as triggered over the language in a work of fiction.

You people are all the same.

Which woman and what kind of soldier?

There are many, many women out there who could kick your butt and beat you on ever physical activity imagineble.

Talking about group averages is completely irrelevant and uninteresting.

Neither the characters in the book nor the students are kids in the sense that you are making it appear. They are teenagers.

Your opinion is duly noted. Feel free to let YOUR kids read all about d*ck sucking and needing a big long schl0ng but stop acting like it's unreasonable for other parents to want to keep that stuff away from their teens. Same goes to the arrogant POS teachers who think they have the latitude to make these decisions.

What happened? Wasn't The Right supposed to be all for free speech?

I actually do believe ANYTHING in a book is appropriate.

This isn't a question of free speech it's about parents having a say in what content their children have access to.

Maaan, you are dropping literally all context here!

The keeedz were not assigned to read pornography and they were not handed blowjob tutorials or told that a big **** is necessary to please a woman. They read a work of fiction where one of the characters mentions oral sex and d-size.

Maybe you went to some Catholic school and grew up with Catholic kids who had all been brainwashed into thinking cussing sends you to hell. However, most teenagers are not like that. Most teeagers do in fact talk like this.

Maaan you're completely missing the point. Let me slow down: it's up to parents to decide what is or is not appropriate content for their teens. Not you, not their lit teacher, not even their pastor. Further, they don't need to justify to any of you f***ing flaming libs why they are making the decisions. If you want your kid to read about slobing on a knob then you can buy it for them.

    Why?

    What is your job?

Yes, schools failing to prevent bullying and failing to detect mental illness leading to teen depression, teen suicides and school shootings is fine. But, sending home a book to teenagers... My God, that's too far!
