12-year-old boy, 14-year-old girl open fire at deputies with guns including AK-47: Sheriff
The 14-year-old girl was shot and suffered life-threatening injuries.

A 14-year-old girl is seriously hurt after she and a 12-year-old boy allegedly armed themselves with stolen guns and opened fire on Florida deputies, officials said.

The children, who reportedly ran away from a group home hours earlier, allegedly broke into an empty house Tuesday night, which the homeowner said was stocked with an AK-47, a handgun, a shotgun and a large amount of ammunition, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies surrounded the home and made announcements, trying to talk the kids into surrendering peacefully, according to the sheriff's office.

This is why we can't have gun freedumb. Too many stupid people don't even take basic precautions to secure their weapons in order to prevent thefts and accidents.

Overall, guns in homes bring about a lot more harm (and death) than good.

This is about shitty people, not guns. They could have as easily stolen a car.

This is a psychotic people problem NOT a gun problem. If it was a gun problem, AKs would be walking around and shooting people themselves.

Group home? For juvenile deliquents maybe? Gloss right over the "kids" burglary, and then blame the homeowner for the "kids" showcasing their homicidal tendencies when the police arrive? "Kids" like these are why homeowners buy guns.

    IOW:
"People break the law with guns, so we must take the guns from people who do not break the law."
    ^^^
This is what happens when you start with "I hate guns" and work backwards
You cannot demonstrate this to be true.

It’s ALWAYS allegedly. :). Just lawyer speak. Michael Brown allegedly had his hands up yelling “don’t shoot” as he charged at officers like a rhino.

Yeah, I saw that earlier. The owner should have put his firearms in a safe.

Not if the car is properly secured, or the guns.

Safes are useful for deterring the casual criminal from taking your guns.
A determined criminal? Not so much.

    Yep.
OP acts like the problem is guns and not rotten little shits breaking into the house. How dare he assume his things would be secure in his own damn property. I used to hide cash in my water moccasin tank. Reach in if you want to. You would have had to do two things to get bit.....jump over my 6 ft, locked privacy fence (ignoring the lock and no trespassing sign) and then break in my house. But alas, I set him free.

Or how about assume people wont break into his property? What he does with his property, on his property is no concern of yours or anyone else. But blame him, not the offenders...

The anti-gun crowd is happy to use the blood of innocent people to push their agenda.

Having them behind a locked door on private property IS secured.

Two worthless sacks of human garbage break into a house and steal guns but it's the homeowner's fault?

That's like saying it's a woman's fault for being raped based on what she was wearing.

One primary driver of gun ownership is home protection, you cant hit them with a gun safe.

If they're in a locked home they are secured. If the home is unlocked, there's a problem.

How do you know the weapons werent secured? My state-approved gun locker wouldn't last 3 mins vs someone with a $30 angle grinder. Maybe they're irresponsible for not having a bank vault in their bedroom?

This house was BROKEN into and you are blaming the gun owners? The fact that homes are broken into is WHY you have guns in the home in the first place. I think your anti-gun thread just failed. I find it funny none of your comments are directed towards these 2 CRIMINALS
    Sad!

One doesn't have to be a detective or mental health professional to figure this out. What happened to those kids that made this sound like a good idea? As a former child abuse advocate, it would give you nightmares if I told you what I've seen. To know what some of these kids go through (before they are taken from their homes and after they end up in group and/or foster homes) is just heart-breaking.

We treat our animals better than how most of these kids are treated.

Then you wouldn't mind restricting access as their is no need to have guns.
