    That was my point.
The US military cannot defeat enemies who oppose it even enemies that have no Air Force, Navy, Space Force ... no tanks, airstrikes, modern artillery, satellite surveillance and all its other advantages.
We will either learn from this history of failure or keep repeating it . Americans no longer support endless warfare.
Our rulers had better get woke - fast.

Jefferson, both Adams, and Lincoln were rather bright.

Thomas Jefferson was, unquestionably, the most intelligent man to hold the office.
Madison and Adams and Adams were in the top 5.

With as many fire arms in the hands of American citizens and some best shots in the world hunters able to take down a deer at over 300 yards
and it would be a limited war the government wouldn't dare roll tanks down main st USA and bomb churches and school the US government would lose all support it would be condemned and sanctioned by the world stage
and that is if you can get the military to fire on its own citizens to began with
many won't, you would have mass desertion

government should fear it citizens it keeps the government humble
when government stops fearing its citizens, they become tyrannical
It's why Democrats want to disarm its citizens, so they have no fear becoming tyrannical nothing would be able to stop them

The inverse. Where were their guns that they say the 2nd allows them to have as they need them to attack Government?

And no country would come to American citizens aid as many enemies the US government has around the world ?

    The obvious answer:
The fact they were not armed only proves they were not there to attack the government.

The only faction that has decided to actually "attack Government" so far is AntiFa/BLM - not without some justification.

That wasn't in your post, this was:

Did the Viet Minh or the Taliban need fighter jets or nuclear weapons to defeat the US military?

You gave that response from my post which asserted that the idea of Americans beating US military is absurd.

I pointed out the fallacy in your statement, below:

You are implying that these militia types, who go home to cushy middle class homes in America, are on par with Viet Minh and Taliban, who defeated us......

In some respects, yes, but in Viet Minh & Taliban win on attrition, which no US militia types will be able to compare with -- both the Taliban and Viet Minh had 'war of attrition' advantage, given they live austere lives, and have a fight to the death mentality, and had the advantage of pain killing drugs, opium, etc., noting that North Viet Nam was led by a Communist and nationalist regime that had fought against the Japanese in World War II and against French colonial rule in the late 1940s, they are war ready and can live on very little, for a long time. Americans? Not so much. When the strategy is attrition, austerity in rough conditions, the Viet Minh and Taliban have the advantage.

But, even that isn't the real reason your comment was absurd, the real reason it's absurd is because the scenario, though might have been a thing in the late 18th century, it's just not a realistic scenario today

It's just absurd, all the way around. The government isn't going to attack it's citizens, or turn into the soviet union, y'all need to get a grip.

"In some respects, yes, but in Viet Minh & Taliban win on attrition..."
That's right, they did win without the use of a navy, air force, space force, or any of the heavy military hardware the USG has at its disposal.

So far, the only attacks on government in America are being carried out by AntiFa/BLM, and it would be very foolish for the USG to use the military to crush those protests.
Fantasies about armed militias engaging in some kind of armed struggle with the USG are just ridiculous. Well, unless you think the FBI is running the militias.
    Is that your concern? ;-)

A meaningless point. Imagine you are in a house, and it's infested with cockroaches. So, you try and get rid of the cockroaches you have two choices
    1. Shoot them swat them, ie.,( regular combat )
    2. Fumigate the house ( Scorch earth the country )

Of the above, if you really want to win, only #2 will work

With bugs, it's doable, but with a country, it's not ( with Viet Nam and Afganistan ).

So, what's left when the terrain and politics renders your winning option not doable?
Combat, and there they win on attrition, which is that particular scenario Americans at home with their guns will not have the advantage on with the American military, so your premise is false.
Oh horseshit. Antifa is highly decentralized and isn't a threat to the US Gov. BLM are just people reacting to cops shooting unarmed blacks.
There's always a few bad apples in any large group, but the white supremacists are organized, carry guns, enact plans, like Jan 6, the Michigan State building attack which was thwarted, etc.

Fantasies? Not my fantasies, the militia fantasies, The Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, they are the ones who proclaim that the reason for the second amendment to arm US citizens to fend off Government tyranny, as if something like that is eminent, they have this 'we're under siege' mentality

Not at all, what I know, is almost all the gun advocates who whine, are for some infringements of arms. And you prove my point.

    Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

And you really think the US government will go scorched earth like they did in Germany and Japan during WW2 on its own citizens, you think the military will follow those orders? Massacre its fellow country men? And the world standby silent?

Hell no, and that is precisely my argument. That is the militia argument, not mine.

Are you even paying attention to what I've been writing?

    I guess not.

There are lots of BLM supporters carrying guns. They've shot a number of cops too. And some of them are organized.

As I said, the evidence indicates... Feel free to offer more evidence.
I have no need to. There is no intelligence threshold in very many jobs that require intelligence.
Sure, you keep telling yourself that.

That is true, but that is not enough to justify using the military to stop their protests, and it certainly would not justify the tactic of exterminating political opposition as if they were "bugs", as has been proposed as a hypothetical solution on this thread.

The "militias" that you seem so obsessed with are small irrelevant groups that have had zero influence over politics in America.
Please paste up a quote from a militia leader similar to the partisan virulent hate of the statements I have cited above.

You think gun control laws will prevent anyone who can either make or obtain Nukes from actually making, obtaining or using them? Think it through.

    John Quincy begs to differ

    IQ: 168.8
    College: Harvard University
    Party Affiliation: Democratic-Republican
    Number: 6th President
    Years in Office: 1825 – 1829 (4 years)
    State Affiliation: Massachusetts
Date of Birth: July 11, 1767
Like his father, John Quincy Adams was an esteemed lawyer and a formidable presence in court (he earned a law degree from Harvard). He was also a brilliant statesman, negotiating several key international treaties. Remarkably, Adams was fluent in at least four languages and regularly translated Latin and ancient Greek as well.
