Sure - and good thing too as you would not want poor Abe to be sitting with the eternally damned .. for worshiping El as "the Supreme One" Judaism does not seem to have as much of an issue with this as Christianity .. which makes sense as they have Rabbi's and Theologians have known this all along... The "Masoretic Text" (MT) was the Edited - OT version for the Gentiles .. Christians. Modern Scholarship has settled the issue .. If you go read about Abe in the Encyclopedia Britannica .. they will tell you it is El who he was worshiping.. https://www.britannica.com/biograph...-narrative-in-the-light-of-recent-scholarship go to this section - The Genesis narrative in the light of recent scholarship of Abraham
Somehow finger puppets seem to lack something when used to express theological concepts. OTOH it does make clear that Christianity takes a back seat to nobody in having abstruse and prolix dagmas.
Gawdalmighty, if we had put even half the intellectual effort we put into this **** into finding out how the REAL world works we'd all be living on Saturn and summering on Gehhedi Prime
Strikes me as funny. Without this so-called corrupted Bible, how do you know, or trust anything about Jesus? And on that you base your faith??
Partly true. The biggest offence to the Pharisees was Jesus claim to be God. They tore their clothes and knashed their teeth.....much like many posters here are doing. Blasphemy was the charge! He also angered them by turning over the money changers tables and driving them from the temple. Had it not "been his time" they would have killed him on the spot!!
I would like to read the Gospel of John with you, and have you point out to me how Jesus did not claim to be God. I'd start with the first three lines. I understand how the Lord often spoke of the blindness of people, but this is amazing!
Explain this: http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/is-god-the-great-gamer.593992/#post-1073055593 As I already said, but of course those who disagree with me only pick and choose what they see as useful for their purpose, I don't have a problem with someone's religious beliefs. However, the claim that religious myths are historical facts is a legitimate target for public debate. Furthermore, using such a claim to attack non-believers is unacceptable, at least as long as evidence for it is nowhere to be found. Intolerant people can't expect others to show them tolerance. There's no proof that the Septuagint was translated by Jews. The letter of Aristeas, the only document that mentions the Jewish scholars, is a proven forgery. If we accept such a source, we might as well accept the existence of one-eyed cyclops and mermaids. The translation of various books of the Hebrew Bible in Greek - what we call Septuagint today - took place over a period of at least 3 centuries. While the Septuagint - or versions of it - might have been used by heretic Jewish sects, it was never used by Jews after the destruction of the second Temple. It's totally irrelevant to Jewish beliefs today. Again, when making claims about Jewish beliefs, one should choose their sources carefully.
"Planning" is not "fore knows things". Are you saying that a handful of Jews in Jerusalem had the power to mess with God's plans? Flattered by your excessively good opinion of Jewish abilities I am, but seriously... On the other hand, if those Jews had messed up God's plan, saving Jesus, Christianity wouldn't exist today, would it? No eternal life in Paradise, either. Show some gratitude.
What you think they might find ? .. Wish we could get into the capstone of the Great Pyramid as well.
So I looked up the High Priest of King Solomon -- Remember that the patron God of Jerusalem was Zedek .. God fo Truth Justice - Righteousness ... and so on -- but this is some 800 years later .. and languages evolve .. Try going back 800 years and finding someone that speaks english . and even if you did .. you would not understand it. Zadok (or Zadok HaKohen, also spelled Ṣadok, Ṣadoc,[1] Zadoq, Tzadok, or Tsadoq; Hebrew: צָדוֹק הַכֹּהֵן, meaning "Righteous, Justified") go figure -- if it looks like a duck .. quacks ..and walks like a duck Wiki Goes on to state that this priest was from the Aaronian line but -- the genealogy in Chronicles is thought - as per the Jewish sites - to be unreliable .. and this leaves open the question of who this Zadok fellow was. Here is an interesting take. https://claudemariottini.com/2006/08/03/was-zadok-a-jebusite/
Yes I do, Pants. With introspective study, from beginning to end, I found God has presented us, through supernatural preservation, a guidline from which to live. You use the word "verbatim" but that means a lot of different things. I would say "as the Spirit confirms." If you do not believe in an active Holy Spirit that works through the Body of Christ, that will be hard for you to grasp. I am a clay vessel, I strive to do what God reveals in his Word but I am imperfect though I do have the right direction.
God knows our fallen nature, but in scripture, God has altered his plans and has been persuaded by those who sought His justice.
So you completely discount the belief that a Supernatural God could preserve His Word correctly in a way that would benefit His people?
I'm sure you've seen this, but I have yet to have a Bible believer explain its contents to me. Perhaps you'd like to try? Skip to 1:28...
Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! 34“For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?” 35“Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?” 36For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen Just so you know, there is this old old book that has all the truth and the answers.
It's very clear that The Last American and yabberefugee are talking about those with a progressive view of scripture who believe that it is not divinely inspired. Personally, I would have used the example of Steven. Regardless, Christians know that Jesus was a Jew from the line of David. Regardless of what you believe, your jumping to the conclusion that this was an attack on Jews is a ludicrous libel which you seem to be tripling down on. Your idea that Christians aren't allowed to use their holy text is equally ludicrous and silly. This is about your lying about others. Whether you're lying about people for the shear joy of it or intolerance is irrelevant to the fact that you are libeling others on this forum. You forget Josephus. Or are you also going to claim that Titus was not a Roman Emperor? Josephus definitely does state that Jews used the Septuagint and that it was translated in the 3rd Century. There is also Philo of Alexandria. However, if you just want to make up history, there is nothing I can do to stop you.
RE: Is God the Great Gamer? SUBTOPIC: What does the question actually ask? ※→ Aleksander Ulyanov, et al, BLUF: ישות עליונה: The metaphysical framework is (relative to the relationship of the deity), in the modern logical context, the "origin." Supernaturally, it is the omnidirectional entity from which all other constructs derive their form. . (COMMENT) It is in the logical proximity to "dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum" (AKA: Descartes' intent"). Relatively speaking in this context → "I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am"); most often shortened to: "I think, therefore I am." In the language of the Supreme Being, it is communicating the thought that it is the center of creation and that nothing else matters. "I am" is more than enough when it comes from the point of origin for the universe and all it contains. The Supreme Being is not a "Gamer." In terms of "I am," there is no "effort" on the part of the deity. "I am" wills it to be and it is done (AKA: The will of God.). The Supreme Being cannot lose; it always wins (omnipotent). (COMMENT) All of creation (the entirety of the universe) is an extension (a component) of the "Will of God." Absent the "Will of God" (I am) nothing can exist. So, the answer to the question is "yes." The universe is the essence of the Supreme Being; the "Alpha" and the "Omega." All that is recognizable, including the information and thought, is part and parcel → the "Will of God." . Most Respectfully, R .
"...wonderful things..." Have they tried ground penetrating radar? It's not like excavation but it can show a lot to someone who knows how to use it. They just recently found out that Angkor Wat was bigger than lots of modern cities, and had more water..
They have done stuff like that and found chambers .. as far as the capstone though .. they had a robot go through a small corridor which led to a door with what looks like metal handles ..
Hey, clothes cost money and my dentist says that gnashing causes migraines. Is this why lightning is alway striking WGOD? ( Doesn't matter, they have rods)
I saw that, UPUAUT was the robot's name. I think after the god of hidden things. They went so far but couldn't go beyond the handles because they were afraid the robot would get stuck (was it a problem with guidance? They should just make it autonomous) Pity they couldn't go further. All the Stone Lifting rays are in there, along with Michigan J Frog and a Jumanji game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upuaut_Project
They might find DNA and artifacts. The content of tombs can tell a lot about the people buried there, and about the people who buried them. Skeletons can tell us how those people died, how old they were at the time, if they were ill, if the women had children, and even how they looked like when they were alive. Tombs can also tell stories about people's beliefs, culture, and origins. Well, tzedek means justice in Hebrew. Same root as Zadok, (I don't know why Tzedek and Tzadok are transliterated Zedek and Zadok in English, by the way, since the first letter is pronounced tz, or ts like in cats). Ba'al means owner, master, husband. Obviously, many people worshiped more than one god back then, religious syncretism was the norm, and everyday language reflected that syncretism. Even Ishtar managed to sneak in, in the guise of queen Esther of Ahasuerus fame. I'm more interested in why is this Zadok mentioned in the Chronicles in the first place. Seems like an attempt to establish a dynastic line of priests based on ancestry, which proves the existence of power struggles between factions and probably a lot less than homogeneous religious beliefs.
