When you judge people by the color of their skin, rather than the content of their character, that's not being "safe".

Stats and data are stats and data, nothing more nothing less. LOL @ you thinking someone going with data is racism.

Do better. Just because you want to see racism everywhere doesn't mean it actually is everywhere.

Cultures that have very different risk patterns vary by skin color and sexual preference; ignoring that fact makes you less “safe”

School history curriculums are often overly influenced by people with political agendas. It's a shame because most Americans only in-depth exposure to our history is through a partisan lens.

Agreed. That is why it baffles me that people can argue that systemic bigotry doesn't exist. Of course they would think that if they are on the privileged side of it.

I don't get the mindset of outright denial of things simply because one has not personally experienced it. As a child abuse survivor, people will often say "Oh, no. It's not possible for a parent to hate their own child." Um, Susan Smith, Andrea Yates, etc.. One of my good friends is also a survivor and has published several books on the subject. She explained it that it's easier for people to believe an individual person is lying than our whole system is completely broken. It is easier to side with the abusers because they don't need anything except our silence.

Comparatively, those of us on this side of love and respect for our country are the ones lifting the heavy end. We can't or won't just pretend that anything Trump has done to burn our Constitution to the ground is acceptable. That's much harder than accepting what crazy lies he spews about his victimhood and attacking those of us that won't turn a blind eye to it. That's why they get so angry. As long as we can't be silenced, we are rattling their cages and those of us that refuse to be bullied that way become their targets (like the two with the biggest cajones in that cesspool - Cheney and Hutchinson).

For the first time in my life, I'm ashamed our fellow countrymen and women. Just devastated quite frankly.

The same is also true for other issues like racism and medical care.
We'll see if we can keep our republic.

Yes, that's why I compared them, LangleyMan. ;-)
Well, if they can't figure out how to stop the Mafia Boss...I have never been concerned about the longevity of our country...until now.

If one side or the other rejects democracy, I think the republic may not survive.

Check the number of Likes my post received.

Yes, even in Trumpian America, manners and civility still matter. Just maybe not to you, I'm guessing.

And before that, whites were at the front.

Is that the way it was supposed to stay forever?

Do you have any actual evidence that they were at the front or is that just something you're making up?

You think it will change? Whites have NO institutional power in South Africa.... absolutely none. The wealth inequality in South Africa has INCREASED under black rule and South Africa now leads the entire world in racial wealth inequality. In a world economy, the ONLY metric that matters is competence. Highly competent and highly motivated individuals will ALWAYS succeed unless they are outright slaughtered as was done to the Kulaks in the Soviet Union.

The whole reason for the change you hate is that studies showed that minorities were being left far behind in terms of vaccination rate.

My guess is that there were many different factors that caused that result. Initial distribution of vaccines was difficult. The initial vaccines had to be kept an -100 degrees, disqualifying most freezers. With far too few vaccines at the outset, there were limits to communicating availability. Etc. Etc.

Systemic racism doesn't have to include actual racism on the part of individuals.

What seems natural and practical for the majority can simply leave the rest of the population behind.

On the other hand, our government is supposed to serve everyone equally.

I'm very aware of that. My brother married a white South African woman. You don't have to try to sell me on the fact that South Africa has a LONG way to go.

The damage done by white rule in South Africa can not possibly be overestimated.

Blacks were excluded from education, business, science, medicine, government, and everything else. They were slaves, basically.

When the change came, the VAST majority was not ready.

Whites with their total power could not possibly have engineered a worse future for South Africa.

Well if you were to just crunch raw numbers since white people make up what roughly 60% of the population? Of course on paper it would look like they were getting the most of the vaccines.

And as far as black folks I think they're more hesitant to take vaccines than pretty much any other demographic.... Might have something to do with the history of that old Tuskegee experiment.

Those who study populations are a lot better than that. People doing such studies have to have more than a 4 year college degree for that. In fact, a Phd is undoubtedly a minimum requirement.

Your second paragraph could well be very real. Plus, I doubt modern western medicine is as readily available and equally administered - quite possibly leading to continuing distrust.

I don't have cites on that, though.

Discrimination is illegal, whether it is against black or white people, that is bottom line.
All the talk about compensation for something that cannot be detected, something that cannot be measured is just a garbage propaganda to promote unconstitutional autocracy.

Only in your mind. I guess you are the racist, that is why you feel guilty.
Just allocate 10% of your salary after tax and support black community personally.

Since I am not the racist, I know that racism does not exist so I do not have to pay anything.

AF? Sorry, I don't know that acronym. Spell it out or use polite words and phrases, please.

Are you saying that liberals are the only rude people? That's rich! Trump is the most crude, bad-tempered, mud slinging name-caller in political history, his supporters feel free to follow his example, and you think it's ironic that I'm the one asking for civility. Now that's ironic!

Overt discrimination identified should be exposed and punished. Large organization that discriminate—like Walmart discriminating against women trying to become managers—should be punished.
We should help people based on need. Those in greater need because of discrimination will show up in the numbers helped.
