So I said in another thread that atheists don't gather in a building twice a week to participate in strange rituals and ceremonies. That being they don't waste time in prayer and worship. Then someone else said that atheists self-worship. By the way, I'm a theist/deist who does not believe in a hereafter so I mostly side with atheists on things. Anyway, if staying at home on a Saturday or Sunday morning playing video games like say... Grand Theft Auto or reading a comic book, or just watching something on a screen (Netflix, Youtube, Cable TV) is self-worship, then so be it. I know that some Youtube atheists have get-togethers like "Faithless Forum", but I don't do that so it would be best for you to ask someone who does do that directly about that kind of thing. I know atheists here will HATE that I'm playing along, but the point is, this way of life is so much better in any way you look at it. If Christians get to go door to door, street preach, hand out tracts, invite people to Bible studies and attend church, I give you a counter offer: enjoy the ONE life you KNOW you have. You have been given the rare gift of life. You don't "deserve" it, but you have it never the less. You cannot KNOW of another opportunity of eternal life no matter what ancient tomes tell you. Play that video game. Watch that movie. If you worked hard to earn those things, indulge yourself. Worship yourself because you worked to earn that pleasure. Life is not all easy, but when free time is offered, don't use it to sit shoulder to shoulder in your so-called "Sunday best" listening to a man behind a lectern tell you how to live your life outside of the walls of that room. Personally, if lining up to accept a flavorless wafer from a man in flowing white robes (looking at you Catholics) gives you that life-fulfilled feeling, I'm happy for you. But don't tell me that I ought to do it (I know you are not forcing me, but you keep inviting me) because for one you cannot prove the celestial promises such a practice grants you, and second I'd find it boring and a waste of my time. If you believe in the Golden Rule, you don't want people to waste YOUR time now do you?
wow thats not even healthy on a secular level for your other point, atheists cant prove the contrary, and I see them constantly taking jabs at believers.
Christians play video games too, maybe not the Amish heck, most Christians do not go to Church either
Sigh.... How many times must this be said: The burden of proof is on the believer to prove a positive not on the skeptic to prove a negative. You cannot prove there is NOT a teapot orbiting the sun like a planet.
Looks to me like his context is the same God Christians say exist, it is after all the God that is always demanded to be proven which is his point, therefore its reasonable to conclude that is the God he is talking about.
So, why use the term God. Or reference Christian? Do you have a definition of this so called God the OP is about?
I replied to your post to tell you I was responding to the OP not you and inform you that the OP does not appear to be talking about any "Sun God".
The burden of proof is on whicher one is trying to change the minds of others, or whichever one is claiming the other is wrong. Believe whatever you believe. If you want to convince me Im wrong and you're right, you wont do it by telling me to show you the proof... (and Im not saying you do that, Im speaking generally)
This is strange to me Christians play video games and watch TV too. All the time. I don't think I've met a Christian that didn't other than one that was like 65.
You realize you're capitalizing the title of God right that means you've narrowed it down and answered your own question. You're referring to this or Poseidon or Ganesh. The term god isn't a proper noun so you don't capitalize it.
No. The Christian god is called Yahweh Jesus is referred to as the Christ, or messiah. It's also sometimes referred to as the holy ghost or holy spirit. Depending on which Christian you ask.
