Right. But the assumption is that women were happy back then. Based upon what? And if the 'study' is only asking women how happy they are, especially today, how scientific are the results? Women's lives, back then, were (generally) far more limited. Today, they are filled with opportunities, choices and stress. But does that mean that they are not happy?
g Everybody is told that males and females both in America. It's one of the first things foreigners notice about us. Foreigners are generally happy with survival, we want more. Responsibility won't make you happy unless you wanted it. Unless all poor people with large families are happy.
According to Pyckkia, yes, and he has 'studies' to prove it. It's just the same old conservative bs. We aren't happy until we're miserable, and oppressed people are unhappiest of all until we treat them really badly, then they'll be delighted
You missed my point, but of course you were able to substitute an anti Trans distraction, so that should work for you.
1) WTF? 2) Why did this apparently accidental 'family' keep paying market price for the same lifestyle? 3) So don't be single, or change your expectations. Why live in the past?
It's not as dire as that, and there is truth to it. All social mammals do MUCH better in a structured environment .. where firm boundaries are predictable and universally accepted. The enormous social problems we see in the West today, are a result of the belief that we don't need those things to be well-adjusted. We even seemed to get away with it for a little while, but it was never going to last.
This is despicable. Even suggesting that the wife/mother is the subset (rather than the other way around, which is probably truer), reveals what you really think of women/womanhood. And then to suggest that if a woman is a wife/mother she doesn't have any identity .. wow.
Responsibility isn't freaking optional. Thinking it is, is where much of the angst comes from. That grown adults assume they have some kind of right to opt out of responsibility, is massive problem.
I am not anti-anything [other than doing harm to others]. The entire sex thing is absurd. People concerned about this have way too much time on their hands.
If you believe that everything was horrible in the past, then you believe it is the case for the present and the future. This is one of the innumerable reasons why leftist thinking is so incredibly nihilistic. .
Reading through this thread has been a combination of entertaining and astounding. A male view of what makes a woman 'happy' is about as honest as a woman's view of what makes a man 'happy'. Individuals, people. No two are alike. Motherhood makes some women happy, while career success makes others happy. Now insert the same statement for men. The idea that women (or men) may be 'less happy' because social expectations have changed, has not changed the indivdual's actions. Men/women can still be parents, men/women can still have successful careers, and any mix of the two is still common.
Prior to women getting the vote, they were considered to be a subset. That was the ultimate goal, to have children and raise a family - for the majority. If a woman was unable to have children, her social value was greatly diminished. Sometimes it was actually the male who was unable to impregnate the womn, but the woman was always considered to be the one causing the infertility. Looking back, we see how wrong that was. It doesn't mean saying it about the past is 'despicable'. And by the by, 'womanhood' is not directly tied to the ability to have children in the 21st century.

Nobody believes everything was horrible in the past, but it's better now. Your thinking about the past is pure nihilism
What is responsibility to you anyway? Conservatives like to go about it almost endlessly, yet they seem to take no responsibility for how much they are polluting the air we all breathe or the water we drink. Hell, most of them don't care if their big dogs maul children
My wife hates the very concept of "female equality". She sees no reason to step down off her pedestal.
