I never understood the hatred for women being mothers maybe it comes from people that didn't have a very good mother.
But why do you have such contempt for motherhood? Why do you see it is such a menial existence it is literally the continuation of the species is a very important job. More than that it's nurturing. People who have talents and abilities and parlay them for success and a career field or in even helping to alleviate hunger or suffering learn how to care and nurture mostly from their mother. And those talents and pursuits were likely nurtured by their mother it's an important job. And it's one that will leave your mark on the world thousands of years from now. Are you often wonder how much I was taught came from people I never even met.
Of course we are animals. Animals that are very disappointing to progressives because they don't thrive in their perfect societies.
If someone wants to be a nurturer, then let them. Motherhood should be a choice, not an automatic career path. Ps. Not sure what the last sentence means.
So I go back to the first question to which you snubbed your nose...how did they conduct the study? How did they determine levels of happiness?
Well, as a woman with more time behind me than ahead, I can tell you that opportunities and stress did not make me unhappy. Stress does not equal unhappiness. And from what I know of my mother's generation, happiness wasn't really something discussed or even considered. Life was life. Deal with it. I go back to my initial question - how did they determine the levels of happiness?
I definitely agree and with modern birth control in various other contraception this is a choice that people make. And if you want a career that makes it to where you can't really be a mother that's great and be happy in your choice. I think people should pursue what they want in life. And I don't think there should be any barriers to entry based on someone's sex. My major complaint was you saying mothers are like cows no they are not they are The hand that rocks the cradle and thus controls the world. Possibly for eons It was a personal musing. I knew my grandmother and of course my mother still alive so I still know her and I got to hear my grandmother tell me stories about her mother but beyond that I don't know much so I wonder what things about me about my mother my grandmother and even her mother came from people thousands of years before. Sorry about the error. It's just something I think about.
The hand that rocks the cradle etc, doesn’t change anything. Did Putin have a bad mother? Did Mother Theresa have a bad mother?
I would say their general theme is equality. That's why they urge women to adopt masculine professions. Unfortunately men and women are not the same and fail to thrive in masculine spaces. Hence the increase in women's unhappiness.
I suppose on the extreme left, the idea might be equality of outcomes. On the more moderate left side, it's equality of opportunity... and on the right they're like, "What do you mean, I got here with my own merit alone. We already have equality of opportunity." In terms of unhappiness, I think it's a cultural issue in terms of the expectations not meeting reality. Women are told they can have it all - a wildly successful career, a family, true love, and reality is really full of tradeoffs that end up being taken as personal inadequacy or something wrong with their life. This is compounded by the fact that men never really learned to do domestic things to the standard women are taught, and so it's hard for men to adequately contribute to the domestic side in a relationship while both partners have a demanding career.... and raising kids is particularly hard for the guy to cover for, especially when they're babies (the kids, I mean). It's not that women are meant to be domestics... it's just things like raising kids is so hard and men are so underprepared that it puts women, particularly those who want it all, at a disadvantage.... maybe over time this will get better culturally. Our culture in general is going through difficult changes. The rise of a virtual world. It's all so much change so fast, and even absent that it's easy to feel disconnected and/or inadequate. It'll be interesting to see what comes next.
100% of all change starts there. No idea. Is the argument that bad people do bad things sometimes the reason for your contempt for motherhood? Isn't that throwing the baby out with the bathwater?
No. The Jesuits say give me the child until he’s seven and I’ll show you the man. No mention of motherhood there.
From those claiming women were happier in the past, I assume, how many kids she produced, dishes she washed, and dinners she cooked. That was the only time they were truly happy.
The Jesuits? A 14th century order of priests? It's 2022 and this is the United States. You don't have to worry about any order of priests.
Sounds to me that after 5 pages of male kevetching about women , they are most unhappy that women are no longer staying in the place they want to put them. It seems extraordinary that in 2022, there are some who deny free will to over half the population on earth. Maybe men would be happier if they stopped trying to control women and instead, encouraged them to reach their potential.
