I was thinking the same thing. The security personnel knew they were way outnumbered and there was no point in trying to stop the rioters other than to follow & monitor them—perhaps as they were trying nicely to convince them to leave the premises.

 

I decided to look at this video and have noticed that you and I are both in error. The insurrectionists did indeed cross the ropes on numerous occasions after all. They just didn't need to do so en masse because there was no need.

 

He wasn't arrested

it's no accusation we saw the video.

Who were they?

As I pointed out here on J6,7..., there certainly was a vanguard of violent militants assaulting the police at the Capitol. Was it their mission to overthrow the government?
IMO, that is a possibility, and I find it very odd that they were not all identified within a week.
It is still not clear that any of those charged and convicted of crimes were part of that militant assault group that so easily took down the barriers.

 

None of that is really responsive to my post. Tucker was not "forced" to air any video. He aired video of violence on J6.
So, saying that Carlson described J6 as entirely "peaceful" are disingenuous. You know, just like much of TC's very biased on air statements.

 

The video I showed that when the great mass entered they stayed within the rope line.
No one, including TC, has denied that there were hard core violent militants in the Capitol on J6.
I have been very critical of Carlson here, but I do notice when people take shots at him and miss they help him - a lot.

 

I don't need to watch the videos. I've read about that a long time ago.
Doesn't change the fact that the Capitol was breeched.
Congress was halted for 7 hours as they went into hiding from those that breeched the perimeter.

There's tons of photos and videos where police were getting run over and beaten also. You've seen them?


None of what Carlson is doing changes anything.

 

The most serious convictions were of the Proud Boys and I forget the other group that did much planning for that day.

The rest were somewhat minor convictions, trespassing and such.

I doubt they intended to overthrow the gov't.
Most were just caught up in the mob mentality.
But those that did planning, likely were hoping to get trump to remain as president. Is that overthrowing? I suppose it would be.

 

You can make all the excuses you want. When people go to the polls and make democratic decisions ultimately resulting in policy, have the correct and full information is always important.

No, since the intention was more detailed than what Tucker is doing. The January 6th committee also had testimony from those who participated, the police officers who were there, and even ex-members of groups such as Oath Keepers and Proud Boys who were there but did not participate, among other things. You need to take the totality of the committee's evidence here and it was quite extensive even though the work was not finished.

Well let's see. The conspiracy theory that all the participants who entered the Capitol Building had permission and were escprted by said police. That is one that Tucker state unequivocably.

From the very beginning, since a few days after the event, the most loyal Trump acolytes were attempting to try to change the narrative any way they can while throwing certain people under the bus in order to save their own skins.

 

When the certification to confirm the electoral count, there were attempts to change who were the electoral college members and how they voted. Electoral College Act of 1877 gives the current standard on how the certification of the election results ensues with a joint session in Congress. When the state of Arizona came due, there was an attempt to deny what the state officially certified and enter an alternative set of electoral college members and change the vote from Biden to Trump. That was denied by VP Pence, and then the riot ensued.
