LINK: Women’s rights have gone ‘too far’, say majority of Gen Z and millennials, study shows (msn.com)

I've seen many here on the forums scoff at the idea that men are being discriminated against. It appears that far more think this than these people are willing to admit. Generally, they just dismiss it or attribute such talk as being a part of misogynists, incels etc etc.

Sadly there are those that believe this is just a push back against women rights. That this push back shows progress as the push back is only happening due to resistance against equal rights. This article even exemplifies that.

Now personally, I would LOVE to know what equality they are actually talking about? I suspect for them its more about equity than equality.

Now, does this prove that there IS discrimination happening against men? Some will say no. This is just a perception thing. I might agree with that....if there weren't so many people saying the same thing.

During my working life, there was discrimination against men in the form of quotas which give court and government favored groups an advantage.

I have an accounting degree. Initially that give me a leg up in getting a position in a company practicing that profession. Later, when the government started imposing hiring and promotion quotas for favored groups, like women and minorities, women were hired to do accounting jobs, even if they didn’t have the academic qualifications. One woman, who had a degree in psychology, had to get special treatment. Everybody had to pitch in to train and cover for her.

Okay, let’s say that we needed to make up “for years of discrimination which had resulted in job inequalities,” which was one of the big arguments for the quotas. Don’t you think that the woman should have been going to night school to get the training for the accounting position? She wasn’t. She just took the job and batted her eyes at the boss to get through.

When I worked for the old AT&T, things were worse. In that case, the courts had ordered women had to be hired and promoted over men who had more experience and qualifications. The women who benefited most from this decree were young white women who were fresh out of college. A woman would be hired fresh out of college, and on the first day, the announcement would be made that she was on the fast track promotion program. They had proved nothing about how well they might do on the job; they were set up for quick promotions because of their gender, and yes, their attractiveness. The older women, who might have faced description in the past, were passed over for the younger, better looking females.

Some old male managers made a career out of promoting these lovely young woman and filled their departments with them. Around the office there were jokes about “Herbie’s (no his real name) harem.” Incidentally, it seemed to me that minority people, who had also been overlooked, were set behind these young white women on the hiring and promotion list.

Those programs earned a lot of political support for the Democrats. It’s one of the reasons why so many women vote Democrat today.

Now the favorite group status seems to have turned. The new Democrat favorite group is transsexual males. We see it in sports, but it might well come down to the job market as well. Woman’s issues don’t seem to grab the attention they once did for the Democrat leadership. It remains to be seen if the Democrats lose some support among women because of this new policy.

If this is correct then it merely shows young people are a little smarter than we thought.

Of course it could also be a response to the reaction we are seeing. Men are dropping out all over. They started by dropping out of jmarriage and relationships now they are dropping out of the work place. This is due to feminism run amok. Feminism is no longer about equality it is about misandry and men know this. They also feel they have no fighting chance so they simply walk away from the whole mess and let the world burn.

Women are picking up on this trend all over and wondering what the hell is going on.

I once worked for a major manufacturing company and every 6 months we had to turn in a census report showing how many minorities were in supervisory roles and how many blacks were in supervisory roles. Yes, there was a big push to hire these types as supervisors. We hired a black male and a black female, both with college degrees, as management trainees. They didn't last 6 months. The male was fired for lying and the female was fired for not reporting to work. And I can tell you this, the people who had worked for the company for years were miffed when these two people were hired as supervisor trainees. Quotas and affirmative action is a guaranteed morale killer among most loyal employees.

Not too far off the mark really. A guys life can be ruined with just 3 words from a woman, doesn't matter if its not true.

As we grow we learn. That is the nature of things. And why there will always be liberals and conservatives.

This is what I've been seeing too. For instance more women are graduating college than men now. There's also an increase in men looking for women across seas rather than here at home.

I don't think the pvt sector businesses were ever FORCED into AA action.
Unless they were getting or looking to get Fed gov't contracts.

The private business I worked at had a very liberal CEO who was pushing all the leftist ideas. Crap rolls downhill.

OK, the CEO was doing it by choice.
Kudos for trying. Sometimes plans don't work out as wanted.

Was that the end then for any minority management hiring?

No, we already had a female and a minority in management positions. They were deserving and doing a great job. But the CEO wanted more.

I personally think we should devise a system to bolster Social Security benefits for stay at home parents, which tend to be women, but other than that, I am not really sure what more we can do or what these people think we have done too much of.

When you have one sex that is responsible for virtually all crime, abuse, war and murder it is only a matter of time before the sex that is being victimized gets fed up.

I think if we ever get to a point where women can have a child with a man — and advances in medical science are close — men won’t have to worry about being discriminated against.

You get generations are seeing more and more boys and men self classify themselves as incel.

What I find most hilarious about it are all the men winning "women's rights" awards.

All job fields should be 50/50.

50/50 oil rig workers, 50/50 miners, 50/50 sewer workers, etc etc.

Retired women who never worked are entitled to half the amount of their retired husband's monthly SS benefit. Plus housewives could start an IRA.

Reminds me of a line from "The Third Man. "The Germans have had 300 years of war and gave us Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. The Swiss have had 300 years of peace and have given us ... the cuckoo clock.

    Pure sarcasm.

If they want equity though, that's what it would look like.

LoL if you think women can exist without men I'd recommend watching Bear Gryll's "The Island" to see what would happen to women without men.

One sex is NOT virtually responsible for all of that.

Women need men and not just for making babies.
