I like that you comforted this individual! However, this has nothing to do with how we make law in America. There are huge numbers of things that people do that they might rue to the day they die. They get racist tattoos. They spend years with illegitimate religions. They get drunk and say stuff that is devastating to others. They make the decision to pull the plug on their comatose child. They drop out of college. They follow the law, but cut ties with their kids after divorce. The list is literally endless. As the Pope points out, there is sin and there is law, and they are not the same.
No they aren't socialists (socialists and social Democrats are the same thing) not everybody is very educated and nut everybody makes 70 k a year.
First hand encounters have to do with the person reporting the encounter as much as what they report. Besides the problems of confirmation bias, etc., there is the issue that the people we encounter are a select group - those at our church, our work, our neighborhood, our relatives, etc.
agree, no God would kill all life on earth but a boat load but many republicans on this site are also atheists and many democrats on this site are theists
I knew a Christian women that killed all her children because she had one too many, Andrea Yates other women have died or lost limbs from giving birth it really is an individual choice, not one you, I or the government should be making for them
Clearly she had problems other than one too many children. And those who die in childbirth obviously choose to give birth. What has that to do with abortion?
today they choose, some Republicans want to change that, they want to force even rape victims to have their rapists babies postpartum depression happens, some have mental issues from having children, some may from not having them, that is the point you mentioned the mental issues with one choice, I gave you an example with the other choice.... as I said "it really is an individual choice, not one you, I or the government should be making for them"
I think that the legalization of abortion was very stupid. All that it accomplished was to welcome and justify promiscuity, thus increasing the behavior. This has resulted in not only millions of abortions, but in astronomically high out of wedlock births, fatherless homes, dependency, and crime. It cheapens life, Motherhood, Fatherhood, and family in the estimation of the masses. And if it is as you say, a personal choice, then why is the cost of all this lathered over the nation. Abortion breeds incompetence and irresponsibility, and degrades the entirety of the American experience.
Abortion is the ultimate test of the individual v the state. Everybody [who has a heart] knows that to choose abortion is a going down a rabbit hole that has no bottom. Although women physically survive such, it must leave serious emotional scars that last a lifetime. How could it not? OTOH, does a woman have agency over her own body? The answer must be yes. If you allow the state to control an individual's body, then you have insanity like forced vaccinations and God only knows what's next. As brutal as it is, this one has to go to the individual with the hope that people will do what they can to avoid such. What a shame we live in a society where something as gut-wrenching as abortion is looked at as a form of birth control. It's going to come full circle as society is going to decide that abstinence [until marriage] makes a great deal more sense if you are considering anything other than your immediate pleasure.
If a woman's body is her own, then why is the responsibility for her choices placed elsewhere? Society shouldn't have to pay for her abortion, health care, her out of wedlock births and the feeding, clothing and housing of herself and her illegitimate children if her body is her own. I respect women and men, but not to the point of making an ass of myself in obeisance to their whorish and promiscuous behavior.
This is just a cheap insult. First of all, our healthcare system is too expensive for every individual to pay for all eventualities. There is NO first world country that thinks that individuals can pay for the healthcare eventualities that may befall them. In fact, other first world countries use single payer systems that lead to FAR LESS expensive healthcare that we have in the USA, as the cost of administering single payer healthcare if far less than the mish mash of insurance companies, federal and state programs, etc. - all of which require significant money, including profit. Next, rape isn't a choice. Cancer (requiring an abortion to begin treatment) isn't a choice. Calling women who need abortions "whores" and accusing them of "promiscuous behavior" is absolutely inexcusable.
Nah, most of them are promiscuous and whorish. And they should be responsible for their own choices if they want them enshrined in their spectacular individuality. The exceptions you stand up are just window dressing. And I find that insulting, not to mention that it cheapens the validity of the exception.
No, you are picking ONE of numerous healthcare situations and declaring those in need to be WHORES!!! Plus, laws denying abortion are a direct assault on the healthcare needs of women. Your language is disgusting and you have NO valid objective.
disagree, birth control you could make that argument, but regardless, I would never force someone to have a child against their will freedom is sometimes messy
Well, true. But, you also stand in opposition to science based medicine as practiced in all first world countries. Plus, your argument is not consistent as I don't see you making statements against other human behavior that results in required healthcare supported in the US and abroad.
What you see as a shining expansion of freedom and science, I see as a burrowing out and new low of human behavior. There is no positive to be gained from broad spectrum legalized abortion to even begin to offset the damage it brings to our nation. It is the dumbest, most self destructive thing our nation has ever done in that it justifies and brings about our own corruption and demise by aborting our nations very humanity in humanity's name. It is devious in spirit. So you can fawn at its feet. I will condemn it. Like I said, we stand opposed.
Yes, and I haven't asked you to change your mind about this topic, as it is clearly tied to your religious views. Outside of religious belief, your argument here isn't sound for reasons I've pointed out. My position is that the abortion decision is part of personal healthcare, and not to be decided by the force of government. Abortion can be life saving.
You haven't read and perceived what I've said in previous posts. Furthermore the issue isn't religious, it's a matter of conscience, as are all attendant matters springing from it. Essentially it cheapens life, everything good in life, and breeds crime and incivility. This incivility is unsustainable in a nation dedicated to freedom. So one or the other must go. Civility and freedom need no introduction or excuses. And all that abortion has done is torment the nation with an abundance of promiscuity, immorality, perversions, whorishness, increased abortions, increased out of wedlock births, increased Fatherless homes which leads to increases in crime and all of the above, repeating and expanding itself by the day, week, month, and year. And then there is welfare where the civilized and those who are all the more virtuous have to labor to support this nonsense. Free choice my foot.
I think you may be one of those historically challenged who thinks abortions started in 1973...LOL Abortions have been around just about as long as humans have...and so has ""promiscuity, immorality, perversions, whorishness,"" (oh, if only those men would quit whoring around ) Beyond thinking about that think about what you claim """And all that abortion has done is torment the nation with an abundance of promiscuity, immorality, perversions, whorishness, increased abortions, increased out of wedlock births, increased Fatherless homes"" Uh, how does abortion cause "increased out of wedlock births""? ""Increased fatherless homes"? Blaming ""abundance of promiscuity, immorality, perversions, whorishness,""" on abortion is just tunnel vision and calling women who have abortions whores is just plain perverse and evil..
