I was implying that to make sure we don't go off on the "ban guns" tangent. But the question is deeper than that? It has to do with more of the arguments of governments forcing people more or less to purchase a gun, such as teachers for instance if conservative governments want to "arm teachers and staff" for instance. And if teachers are armed, then students think they should be armed too. Hence that any promotion, one way or the other, will have consequences they have not anticipated.
But that's the rub, isn't it? How do you protect poeple from criminals not owning a firearm given the plethora of ways a person can own a firearm outside of background checks and so forth? Again, putting more weapons out there isn't the answer. Nor is banning firearms is the answer. And then we have background checks, banning "ghost guns" and somehow trying to get community firearms off the streets. the irony is that the looser or easier we make firearms easier to own or to carry in public, the easier it is for criminals as well. We have literally 51 plus federal government different gun laws out there. We have CCW laws, some states with open carry, some with open carry or conceal carry without a permit, and so forth. So, if an officer sees a person carrying or packing, and they are in the projects, there is not a thing they can do because of the conservative laws out there unless we start looking at profiling, which is also against the law.
well, no one should give a **** what students think in the first place. Listening to their poorly formed opinions is part of what got us here. The promotion exists as it would for any other legally owned item, and I’m pretty sure forcing teachers to buy guns isn’t a serious issue.
I have found students are more in tune than what you realize. They may not have the intellectual capacity to understand, but they are great observers though and can spot flaws in your behavior and other things quicker than a medical professional, especially if they see you day to day. They are the first to spread that Teacher A is dating Teacher B on the QT and so forth. They keep it to themselves and don't tell their parents, among other things.
is that not what I just said I would think we could both agree that people that can not control their temper should not be choosing to carry a gun in public
I'm not crying. You have a lot of gun deaths outside the criminal enterprise as well. Presumably average people.
In a city, a developed area- it is. Most cities have laws against firing a weapon in the city limits. I suspect a decent prosecutor could find several charges applicable to this situation. Unless of course the shooter was one of those people exempt from laws and common sense due to race or political beliefs, which would make it not a crime if the prosecutor was liberal... The breakdown in our fundamental value systems is producing a wide variety of loonies that freak out over any disappointment or uncomfortable emotion. When you fail to enforce rules- there are no rules, and you get this kind of crap from people who are unwilling to regulate themselves.
