Trump and other Republicans conjure a familiar enemy in attacking Democrats as communists” https://apnews.com/article/donald-tr...edac4439ec66f2 Communist? Other than a few perhaps in southern Florida isn’t the label Communist so 20th Century? What even could be its relevance today? At best, there is probably only one country in the world who one could label Communist. There doesn’t even exist an applicable person or entity today one could point to or employ as a real life example. If are using Communist as your scapegoat doesn’t it appear you are playing your audience as being really uneducated and stupid to try selling them an extraneous boogie man from the past?
It's part of the rapid-fire chain of insults that get flung at left-leaning folks. I wouldn't expect much thought to be put into whether it's relevant to use those words, because they are chosen for shock value and stigma and nothing else. Sort of like calling conservatives "nazis". It's dumb and mindless because it's only actually relevant in a tiny percentage of situations.
Donald Trump, leader of the *I don't want to think so just tell me what to think* crowd. I am not a Democrat, so it doesn't really hit me personally, but this is just one more reason why Trump is not a good leader of this country. We need a president who can be president for all Americans, not just a select or un-selected group. Failure to do so is, imo, disqualifying. Anytime a leader tries to demonize a group it should be a red flag. Why do I feel like I'm repeating myself? lol
Who would ever have thought that a party that wants everyone to pay for the college loans of the elites would ever be labelled "communist"? Wow... who's a thunk such a thing?
No one who claims that has the slightest clue what that word even means. That isn't an attack. That's a fact. There is a 0% chance Trump has the slightest idea either.
Anyone who claims the Democrats aren't communists doesn't know what communism is. Do you believe there should be one central bank in The United States?
I wouldn't say super pissed, but he also has been disappointing in the past. I almost addressed this in my earlier post, as I knew someone would come up with that, but when he attacks a specific group of people without great reason, it is also not good. The one good thing is that he seems to understand the blow back from it and seems to tone it down a lot following these occasional trip ups. Trump could get the benefit of the doubt, but never seems to acknowledge that he might have mis-stepped, and instead doubles down and seems to actually escalate it, mostly due to his narcissistic nature and ego that can't acknowledge missteps. We all make mistakes here and there, we all say something we later on regret, but the difference in some people is that they acknowledge it and at least attempt to do better. Others do not, destined to repeat the mistakes over and over. Hope that helps.......
No. And having a central bank is not what communism means. Communists wish to eventually eliminate money, class (most of all), and the State. Anarchist communists want to do so immediately. Others, such as Marxists, think there should first be a period of the tyranny of the proletariat for a transition period to this anarchy. And the Fed isn't communist. They are very big fans of capitalism. Have you seriously never heard of Greenspan?
Having a central bank is straight out The Communist Manifesto... "Centralisation of credit in the hands of a national bank." Do you support inheritance taxes?
You need to actually read the book if you are going to pretend to understand it. Do you seriously think the Fed is controlled by the working class proletariat? That's ****ing hilarious. You also could have at least started with the first plank instead of skipping to the middle. How many democrats support the complete abolition of private property? Didn't think this through, did you? Also, Marx didn't support the removal of inheritance TAXES. He supported the removal of ANY INHERITANCE AT ALL. Dems don't support that.
Yes. I have. I wrote about it quite a bit in college for my econ classes. Which is why I know that you picked one plank, can't even actually talk about the first plank, and completely misrepresented another plank. Marx didn't support the removal of inheritance TAXES. He supported the removal of ANY INHERITANCE AT ALL. Dems don't support that.
Yes, Communists are still almost always far better educated, informed and rational than ordinary American Democrats, "liberals", Republicans and "conservatives". "The socialist principle that 'he who does not work, neither shall he eat' is already realized; the other socialist principle, namely 'an equal amount of products for an equal amount of labor', is also already realized." Lenin/Marx, The State and Revolution, VI Lenin, Penguin copyright 1992, p. 85.
Communism cannot be dismissed as something from the past. The US swings farther to the left every day. If the shoe fits wear it. We just had a post started on PF regarding Elizabeth Warrent attempting to fix prices to prevent "unfair leverage." This is a commie approach to economics. Seel link below. Progressive liberalism is a form of communism. Do you think these people support a free market economy? https://mru.org/courses/principles-economics-microeconomics/price-controls-communism-planned-economy
Very few of our politicians and their supporters seem to know very much about Communism. Ditto Trump. OTOH, DJT probably knows quite a bit about Democrats. After all, he came out of the DP.
Trump devotees can make as much noise and throw as many impotent insults as they want but if the GOP bet on Trump again there will be another Democrat president in 2024.
The US is certainly swinging to the extreme end of the political spectrum, but so did the Communist states in the past. "How self-government is to be organized and how we can manage without a bureaucracy has been shown to us by ***America and the first French Republic, and is being shown even today by Canada, Australia and the other English colonies***." Lenin/Marx THE STATE AND REVOLUTION, VI Lenin, Penguin, 1992 p. 66. (*** mine) All political parties can twist themselves into knots very fast.
IMO, even assuming that Trump is allowed to appear on ballots in 2024 (unlikely), he would have to attract at least a supermajority of electoral support to actually win. IOW, a Trump victory in the general , at this point, is virtually impossible. Other Republicans -- even bigger losers.
Its always 100% "us vs them", so calling half the nation communists (the enemy) is classic Trump, and the reason why he, and his apologists, is such destructive force. Its foolish to think having a central bank makes a country communist, but if so, then the GOP is as communist as the Dems
