Any good books on Trump’s appeal to his supporters?

Trump is one of those big bosses who wants to have yes men and butt kissers under him. Those guys can last for a while, but their hubris usually catches up with them.

Everything Bill Clinton was accused of is far more true of Donald Trump.

And there is nothing Trump can do to change the situation around, even if he cared, which I doubt.

So "Slick Willie" gets a pass for rape. How many of those cards are you willing to give him?

Be careful. You are constructing a glass house around your posts.

I believe I've answered the question of defending Trump a couple of times on this forum and I think the question of Trump and his support is always asked wrong (love your avatar by the way). Trump is not about red vs. blue, Republican v. Democrat, conservative v. progressive, etc. It's Trump v. DC with DC being an ossified cesspool of corruption and dysfunction that is no longer working the way it's supposed to.

I've had a career working with and in the Deep State and survived the worst of the corruption (damn near destroyed me and my family when I got cross wise with it) and to understand Trump, you really have to understand the machine he's fighting.

Historically Congress recognized that it was politically advantageous from a career perspective to stop actually legislating back in the 60's. Instead they created the alphabet agencies to do the heavy lifting for them since they aren't political and there's no way for citizens to intrude on what they want to do. Seriously. Ever comment on a proposed regulation? There has to be a comment docket with all of them that allows everybody (not even limited to citizens) to tell them what you think. Wouldn't it be awesome if all the "experts" here did that? Of course you haven't. I'd lay odds that nobody here has. I'd further bet that nobody here has any idea even where to look to do that.

So these days Congress hasn't passed a single piece of legislation since Obamacare. That's now a dozen years and 3 administrations ago.

Meanwhile EPA is moving to make internal combustion engines, arguably mankind's greatest invention ever, illegal to sell in a little less than a decade. Has the Clean Air Act been amended by Congress to allow CO2 to be a regulated pollutant? The answer is a resounding "no". Any of you vote for that? Any of you have any say in that? I doubt it.

I did not vote for Trump in 2016. Thought he was more of a circus sideshow than a serious politician at the time. Then shortly after his inauguration he very deftly cancelled EPA fuel economy standards that Obama had very shoddily rammed through at the last minute and then sat down to follow the rules and redo the standards much more reasonably and in the normal prescribed timing that EPA's supposed to use, which put it at the end of the third year of his term if I recall.

Since that's my business I knew immediately that Trump knew where the DC bodies were buried and how far down. I wouldn't hesitate to vote for him again. And I'm well aware of the absolute unfair nastiness he's going through. Piss off a mafia don and you can expect to see a guy with a gun shortly.

By the way, Trump sat 3 Supreme Court justices. Now we've got the Dobbs decision as well as WV v. EPA and that other one about the meaning of "navigable waters" that have all been decided by them. Notice how thoroughly nasty the left has become about Thomas and Alito and others. Same game. But Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo is going to be heard in a couple months and decided next June.

Watch for the Deep State to crumble. You should be able to hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth on Mars.

That's why we support Trump. You don't need a book to understand it.

I think she could have won if she had run a less self-entitled campaign. It would have been good contrast to Trump's ego. Instead of "Its her turn", the Democrats should have been talking about her ability to govern. Instead of saying "I'm with her" it shoudl have been "She's with us". And they should have been more guarded with the "vote for her because she is a woman" hubub some of the left were pushing. Obama smartly avoided talking about him being Black as often as possible. He WAS the first Black president, and that was historic, but he didn't allow it to become the centrepiece of his own campaign.

Obama instead preached Hope and Change, etc, and spoke of how there shouldn't be a Black America and White America but a United States of America etc. It was a very attractive message. Hillary should have leaned in that direction instead of talking about "Deplorables".

What you claim as the deep state is the burocracy of government. And the chicken sheetiness of Congress to not have to make hard decisions. Because they fear losing their next election.
trump might be there to fight that, doubtful, but he is not the person for the job.

He's not smart enough to get most people to believe him.

He only ever cared about 1 thing. Himself.

Once Loper is decided, you can get back to me on how smart Trump is.

So far, he's the only one who's figured that out.

Trump might crush the Deep State without even being in office.

    I'd say that's brilliant.

Differences in opinions lead to differences in policy .

If you will accept removing porn from public schools, banning trans from sports and enforcing the border we can talk.

A society where not everyone thinks the same will soon crumble.

That destruction of society is the let's goal

Does that mean you want everyone to think exactly the same or you prefer a world where not everyone thinks exactly the same?

    Doubtful.
People keep electing the same person most every time.
Because Congress doesn't have to make the hard decisions.

I don't think you could get 3 people on this site to be happy and productive under your dictatorship much less a society.

That's exactly the nut of the problem and it's why I'm so excited about Loper. It stands to eliminate the Chevron deference doctrine which basically says that, in cases where Congress has done a bad job writing a law leaving a question in interpretation, the courts will defer to what the agencies think the interpretation should be. If Chevron falls, open questions will go back to Congress to amend the law or it simply won't go into effect.

Delightful actually. Agencies will be handcuffed from overreach and Congress will have to start legislating.

That's a stake right through the heart of DC corruption.

By forcing everyone to think the same? THAT is how you’ll achieve a happy and productive society??? Yeah that makes logical sense
