This is hilarious. Now watch liberals suddenly be for a wall.

It's no longer racist and xenophobic. Lol

The mental gymnastics it takes to keep supporting this idiot...

The rawest recruit knows that the first thing you do to establish a secure perimeter is to construct obstacles to "channel" the enemy where you want them to go... or NOT go.

He's only now seeing that it's an issue because Texas decided to bus the problem to blue states.

You progressives have no ability to see causality. And your positions in major issues come with severe and long lasting consequences.

Not to mention your absolute ignorant and inexcusable reaction to trump wanting to build a wall as being racist and in effective as well as incensitive helped create the policital divide we have right now.

Biden ran on an open boarders message. Come one come all! Well. They listened. And now that it's become a social and economic problem for blue states you all finally get it?

You should never be in charge of anything.

    This problem was avoidable.

And yet he waited until the moronic and ineffective leader who currently occupies the white house before he started his war.

Yes and that works great for a small area. But when you're fighting people with the means and financial incentive to find another way through, they will do so. Your "perimeter" will stop the equivalent of farmers armed with a stalk of corn while the real threats get through unabated.

That's why the wall will be more of a monument than a security device.

Funny, to read so many clueless speculations, masquerading as informed opinions. FYI, for all those who couldn't manage to read a full article:

Point #1: The U.S. border with Mexico is nearly 2,000 miles long. The Biden Admin. is building up to 20 miles of new wall. So all those equating this, with Biden's deciding that walls work-- Tsk- tsk (for those who still haven't caught on: that ain't what this means).

Point #2: This is meant to address one particular heavy traffic area. Since Title 42, by law, could no longer be enforced, after there was no more declared state of national medical emergency (because of Covid, geniuses), and that expired this spring(May 12), it was expected we would get a flood of migrants crossing the border. To now have to apprehend these migrants and house them for due process, in cases claiming asylum, meant Mayorkas was desperately in need of more money, to deal with this. He came to Congress & asked for additional funds. My answer to everyone who tells me how strong on the border, Republicans would supposedly be, is to ask why then, the Republican House didn't provide Jack Squat to Homeland Security, for fighting this incoming surge? What the Repubs record shows, is that they are all talk.

I would've speculated that it's cheaper than hiring more agents, and acquiring new secure facilities, and staffing them with guards (& kitchen staff, & janitorial staff), and transporting all those apprehended to these facilities, etc., etc., to just build a wall; but, in fact, the wall is an added deterrent, that Mayorkas gets for free, to help stem the flow. See below.

Point #3: And this is actually the biggest one. Congress approved this money, in 2019. Since Biden came to office, he's been trying to give it back, yet Congress hasn't taken it. But the funds need to be spent this year. That is the President's obligation (to enact the will of Congress)-- just like those Ukraine military funds that Trump illegally tried to hold up. If Biden were to fail to use the funds, that would make him derelict in his duty. So, because Congress wouldn't rescind these funds, Biden was left with no choice.

So much for all of the Right wing opinions and theories, at least those I'd read, in this thread (though I'd given up looking for anything intelligent, on the 1st page). The general idea & direction of the thread-- that this is a Biden "reversal," is clearly a fail.

Don't feel bad: mischaracterization is one of the things Republicans do best. It just comes naturally to you, which is why even the Wall Street Journal Article, that explains all of this, still gratuitously calls it an administration, "about-face."

    <Snip>
WASHINGTON—When he was campaigning for president, Joe Biden pledged that “not another foot” of border wall would be built on his watch. But this week, his administration announced plans to do just that.

In a public notice posted Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security outlined its intent to build up to 20 new miles of Trump administration-era border barriers in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, one of the busiest crossing spots for migrants attempting to enter the U.S.

“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,” the notice reads. It added that the administration will waive federal, state and local laws that protect water, air and endangered species to speed up the construction.

The about-face by the administration—which halted all border-wall construction on the first day of Biden’s presidency—shows its increasing desperation to tamp down illegal border crossings, which have surpassed two million for each of the last two years.

A spokeswoman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which will oversee the new wall construction, said the Biden administration has to move ahead because it is required to spend the remainder of more than a billion dollars Congress had allotted in 2019 to border-wall construction. Congress required the government to spend the money by the 2023 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30. Up until then, the administration had been calling on Congress to rescind the funds.

Biden made the same point Thursday, telling reporters the administration had no choice.

You should never hear the end of it. Biden wasted all the left over material. Only after the blue cities got a dose of what the border states were going through, did Biden come around.

He should make you so proud, especially after he said there would never be another foot of wall under his administration.

In order to avoid saying Biden lied about not building another foot of wall, the WH is going metric. Rather than 20 miles of wall, they are building 32 kilometers of wall.

He is not breaking his promise. He said "not another FOOT. He did not say not another twenty feet or whatever the length of wall he is adding. ;-)
Is this just griping about Biden?? Because the R's should be content that the wall is being added to.
The migrant situation will worsen as parts of the planet become uninhabitable. (be it because of continuous warring or climate changes.)
Human ingenuity will be tested as these challenges are not resolved or managed more effectively.

Its also hilarious that Biden does something that conservative have been calling for and instead of accepting a win graciously they use it to go after him.

That's called being hyper-partisan. God forbid anyone from one side of the political aisle give credit to someone on the other side.

Biden's political instincts are almost always spot on. Can't say the same for his opposition.

But the democrats have been telling us for ten years that walls do not work.

We are not content that the wall is being added to. The wall should have been done by now and we would not have all those illegals in those blue cities. Blue cities that are incapable of handling a small fraction of what red border states have been putting up with for years.

Your post shows why many political people don't want to work with hard core maga folks. If he announced he was going to build a wall along the whole border he would be asked, "What took you so long" or be accused of being a "flip flopper."

No one is denying that the immigration/ border issue is a big problem. Will a wall work?? . With all the technology available today.......one would think that people in power could come up with more creative solutions.
A place to start might be to stop being so partisan and divisive........and look for common areas of agreement using effective problem solving strategies. The blame game achieves nothing.

You mean we should not criticize him for something which he should not have done. He announced that he was going to stop building the wall on day one.

    TRUMP WAS RIGHT.

The White House was denying it since Biden took office. They are only now admitting that it is a problem.
