It's a dang shame you're not half as smart as you think you are.
Where do you get your screwy ideas? Thugs need guns and it's easy to nail them on gun charges.
    Innocent gang bangers?
I'm dishonest because I disagree with you?

    Throw him a "fish"...

that's a real gut buster. if someone is a felon, they can be punished for possessing a firearm. as a retired career prosecutor let me explain things to you that you apparently haven't considered.

the passage of laws deters people two ways

    1) the threat of punishment for breaking the law deters many people
    a) passing more laws deters those who are afraid of breaking them or those who tend to obey the laws

    2) incarcerating those who break the laws deters them while they are incarcerated

now if someone is NOT deterred by the threat of punishment then passing more laws won't deter them any more.

gun restrictionists want to pass more and more laws because that restricts the rights of those who follow the laws or worry about the punishment for violating a gun law

we, on the other hand-reject that "solution". we want to incarcerate =for long periods of time-those who use firearms to illegally harm others, threaten others or facilitate crimes of violence. we know that people who commit armed robbery or murder or felonious assault etc are not deterred by the possibility of being convicted of those crimes. They are only deterred by being physically incapacitated as a result of them committing the violent crime

The problems with their policies aren't what you think they are.

So? Doesn't matter. If you don't commit a crime, you do not get your Rights taken away. Guilt by association is NOT a part of our Justice System. With your logic anyone that sent money towards Trump's Campaign should be barred from exercising their Rights. Is that truly what you want? How far are you willing to go with this guilt by association slip n slide?

A lawyer that is on retainer and defends those people in that criminal enterprise would fall under your logic. They should have their Rights taken away for performing a Constitutionally MANDATED activity? Not to mention you're also including people who have not committed any crime except be guilty of association.

Regardless if we're talking about just hanging out with them or being a part of the gang, if they have not committed a crime they should not have their Rights taken away. Being a part of a gang =/= committing crimes. For example the biker GANG The Patriot Guard Riders is considered a gang, yet they go around showing respect to Veterans and helping them.

And there are already laws which takes such peoples guns away.

    Look! Squirrel!

And violent misdemeanors already prevents someone from legally owning a gun.

This is entirely false. They are not resisting efforts to take away guns from criminals, the mentally ill or senile folks. They just want to make sure that it is done in the proper, Constitutional, way. Gun control advocates want to make it easier to grab guns from people by making end runs around the Constitution.

As far as "children" goes...what do you consider "children"? Because by law an 18+ person is an adult, yet gun control advocates want to ban them from owning guns....yet still want them to be able to join the military and be able to use actual military weapons, not just "military style".

You must think you're the only guy around who understands these matters. A guy I've known for nearly 60 years was a prison warden.

I'm interested in providing the means for police to deal with bad guys on the street. I'd like to have gun laws we can use to deal with criminal gangs.
Depends what the gun laws are. Using a firearm to defend yourself is okay. Using it to rob and assault people is not. Same with other weapons.
    Fine.
    They don't like getting caught.

You're telling us something we don't know? Same goes for DeSantis, Abbott, Trump, McConnell and Mike Johnson.

I cut my teeth on politics. My mother was mayor of a small California city when I was in high school. I respected her a lot because she was a honest pol.

Say what you want about them, but most of them want to limit firearm ownership.

Conservative claim to be smart but the dumb lefties “taking the lunch money” from conservatives every time they move in to Red state.

With all the smartness conservative claim they have , yet with utter dismay they are watching – Dumb lefty coming from CA, NY, IL to conservative neighborhood like Huston, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Phoinix, Nashville , Charlotte and changing these cities and states. Lefty liberals taking over schools and grooming conservative children to be liberal, they are brining organic grocery and restaurant and gourmet coffee, they are binging yoga and drag queen, they are bringing pride month. These liberals voting democrat and electing liberal school board, city council and changing every thing conservative hold dear and near.

Yet , conservatives thinks those liberals are so , so stupid. You really can’t make this up.

Conservatives , if you are so , so smart. let's see if you can stop the liberals taking over your city!

Sorry, there is no application to protect them from themselves.
Its been shown time and again they can't learn from history or their own mistakes and failures.
You need look no further than these boards to know they stand with Hamas over Israel.
They think exposing 5th graders to gay and trans sexuality issues is proper parenting
They believe in one party control no matter the issues. These boards are perfect proof.
So its evident that one day they will get their wish.

After reading District of Columbia v. Heller, I was convinced an earlier SCOTUS took pains t leave room for gun control measures. Will this court go further? Are "guns" enough of an issue for the conservative Justices that they'll risk blowback that could see liberals stacking the Court if they get the chance.

Heller was prior to McDonald and Kennedy was increasingly erratic and being heavily lobbied by gun banners Breyer and Stevens. So Scalia put in some extraneous dicta to keep the wavering Kennedy on board, after Stevens claimed that the four solid justices in what would be the majority, wanted to get rid of state laws as well as the Gun Control act of 68 and the 1934 NFA.

How about doctors judging the capacity of seniors to operate a motor vehicle? They've been judging mental capacity for decades.

    1)driving a car is a privilege
    2) It's usually the DMV that decides that
    3) there is not a political agenda to cut down on the number of drivers for a nefarious political bias

If the blowback from Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization doesn't give the conservative Justices pause, I suppose they might extend gun rights well beyond Heller.

The DMV can decide to accept doctors' notes saying an older person is healthy enough to drive or choose to test a driver themselves. I don't why we can't have doctors do the same thing for older gun owners.

You keep saying “ they .. they . they”

Point is “they” are at your neighborhood and changing your neighbored/ city/ state forever and nothing you can do about it. Seems like those “ dumb liberals” are winning and smart conservatives losing their lifestyle forever.
