It's only an educated guess, but 80% of the killed prisoners are actually guilty. One out of five gets killed being innocent. Imho: Abolish death penalty. Especially if the crime was exremely brutal, and/or the killed ones are children. The more distgusting crimes are, the more humans want to take revenge, and the less we look whether the accused in really, really guilty. In France there was a series of child abuse, and a number of men have been found gulity. A year or two later it became obvious, that there was no child abuse - some activists had questioned the children in a manner, that the children, wanting to be nice, gave the desired answers.
This is just another example of how the anti-gun left plays on the emotions of those who know no better.
It's far far higher than 80% guilty. More like 99.9% guilty of something serious and slightly less guilty of capital murder. But I don't support the power of the state to kill prisoners, I do support intended victims having the right and power of self defense, which is why I teach people those skills
that's completely wrong. There is no evidence whatsoever that 20% of the people executed in the last 50 years were innocent of the crime they were condemned for this is from a biased anti dp group https://innocenceproject.org/innoce...ns, the death, sentenced to death are innocent. . A 2014 study estimated that at least 4% of those sentenced to death are innocent that is sentenced to death as opposed to being executed and often times "innocent" meant they were not guilty of say capital murder but merely a less serious crime
I guess you haven't bothered reading my many posts on the DP where I say I don't support it except in extremely limited circumstances-such as a person doing LWOP who then murders a guard etc,, and "sentenced to death" is not the same as EXECUTED, many of that 4% later had their sentences reduced
