You have offered nothing to refute the following comment I made before, so I will repeat it:

Making alcohol and cannabis illegal, when million and millions of people want them, is prohibition, it drives the whole industry underground and makes the problem worse. It puts people in jail who are not criminals, all of whom have to be supported by taxpayers, and crowds out prisons that should be reserved for real criminals, usurps federal, state, and municipal resources better spent chasing real crime.,.

Prohibition is, in short, unsustainable, unworkable, and, overall, a terrible policy, and should be abandoned.

It's precisely why the Volstead Act was repealed. Do you not know history? Moreover, your 'study' was flawed in it's reasoning.

Everyone I know smoked grass as teenagers, and we're all doing fine, thank you. No problemo, as terminator once proclaimed.

moreover, the results aren't that clear cut. The bottom line is that your claim is isn't a settled argument, it's not conclusive.

Try to find some of the studies and read them. Google something like "Effects of cannabis on young brains".

With today's technology, there is no reason why we should be at the mercy of gangsters.

Which doesn't negate the fact that you don't get to make that decision for others.

I agree it should. But previously you said the OP was about fairness, and that is what I responded to.

Why not just revoke citizenship for anyone under those conditions?

The problem with that logic is that it is destroying the brain of young people who are not capable of making wise decisions for themselves.

That does not negate the fact that we have all sorts of technology to identify who is breaking the law.

That is not the only study. Try googling "study of effects of marijuana on immature brains".

Did you read the whole article. It ended up with
"Long-term and frequent marijuana use probably affects cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and learning, but more research needs to be done to understand how."

I will interpret for you. They don't know how it negatively affects the brain, but they need to understand how.

So you are OK with ruining the brains of the next generation because you don't want to be prevented from getting high.

It shouldn't be though. I have "permission" from my state to use medical marijuana, primarily to alleviate pain. I've been taking large doses of Percocets (prescribed) since I got hurt, but even the doses I take, which is more than your average retired NFL player, I was never pain-free until I got that "permission" (which I shouldn't have to even do, as I believe my body, my choice) and fired up a Dutchie, and for the first time in years, I was completely without pain. It literally brought tears to my eyes. It also helps with anxiety and many other medicinal uses, like pain relief for cancer patients, and so on.

Anyone who thinks that it has no legit medical uses are either delusional, uneducated, or they care more about their own power over others than they do with people getting medical assistance.

And yes, the "high" that comes with it is pleasurable. Sometimes a good thing, others not so much, as I may have some sorts of plans or activities that being high while doing so is a bad idea. I can't drive, but that is a perfect example.

If you new anything about botany and its current intersection with government you'd not have made such a patently ridiculous state.

What is it with you people who think you have the right to demand, under penalty of law, that a total stranger to you not drink, use weed in any form, or even what many would describe as "hardcore" drugs. It's my body, and it's none of your business.

The young people's brain who are also affected are not your body.

Get yourself a medical MJ card, and you can get that stuff, though they call it "concentrates" now, not "hashish". It's my preferred use method.

I have nary a clue what it is you're trying to say, though no doubt it is just more excuses for controlling other people's lives, when it's not your place to do so.

You can go to Amazon right now and order some arsenic, so I'd have to say yes. On the question of someone using drugs (gasps in horror!!!), it's not your place to tell total strangers what they can and cannot put into their own bodies. If we don't own our bodies, how can we claim to own anything?

You misunderstand. I don't tell total strangers what they cannot put in their bodies, government does. Try not to invent what I said when you respond. It is irritating.

By making mj readily available, it is also more available to young people whose brains are destroyed.

What's more irritating is people like you who think you have the authority, even through the government, which IS us, to tell perfect strangers what substances they can put in their body. You're simply not that important. If it wasn't for grass roots support from dedicated drug warriors, or people who learned nothing from prohibition, the government would not be making such demands. My body, my choice. Screw anyone who thinks they have more say than I do.

Nobody is suggesting making it available to kids, except in perhaps dramatic health issues that would overrule any such concerns, like a child with cancer who needs chemo, and then needs something to kill the pain that comes with that.

Drugs don't ruin people, people ruin people.
