So Israel lets terrorists in to kill a bunch of its people, and now I guess that means we can finally help Saudi Arabia in its perpetual crusade against one of the poorest nations on the planet.

Was it yesterday or the day before I predicted more proxy wars in 2024?

The Houthis attacked shipping there recently with drones, surely had nothing to do with us... right?

Theres a paralel here between people in poor areas not liking the police, and the US acting as the worlds police.

This is one of the few things I stand with the current administration on. We have clear cut reasons for our actions and they are attacking our ships and merchant ships...some of which are our allies.. I blame the Houthis for their aggression--- not Israel and not us.

We are not attacking Yemen. We are attacking the Houthis, a terrorist group in Yemen, who are also fighting the Saudi-backed government in Yemen, and who have launched attacks on US warships in the Arabian Sea. they also have launched missiles towards Israel as well. It is a proportional response to what the Houthis did.

Actually since 2018, when peace negotiations began, the civil war had abated. A recent Chinese brokered deal between Saudi and Iran (you may remember that, it was a big deal a year or so ago) led to implementation of ceasefire and since then, the houthi now control the entire of Yemen, with the Saudis effectively pulling out.

Since the entire western red sea coast is now in the hands of houthi and by extension, Iran, maybe USA sees this as an issue regarding regional control of shipping lanes. I mean what are maritime laws, surely these waters belong to houthi and Somalia..

 

All shipping cargo from Asia to Europe/America comes through that narrow little lane by Somalia and the Suez canal, yes.

 

Attacking the global economy hurts everyone including the poorest of people.

 

Reminds me of people who protest by shutting down highways and piss off everyone including those who may have supported them otherwise. A strategy sure to gain a lot of attention, but highly likely to backfire.

Yep, you Yanks have made some **** ups with who you give weapons to in the past. But there is a silver lining and a great thing about Americans that they don't hold grudges and they always give even previous enemies s chance. The Houthis were given a chance and they've cocked it up so now it's on them.
