It is the same basic concept on a bigger scale. They are seeking to shut down the passage of vehicles to pressure for change.

 

I understand your point, but one is non-violent ... no one gets hurt. The Houthi are killing people and destroying ships. I don't think it's a fair analogy.

 

France failed to sign a statement of support for the US and UK air strikes on the Houthis after it said it would not take part in bombing raids to protect Red Sea shipping. major European powers including France, Spain and Italy did not offer military or political support.

Paris was joined by Italy and Spain in not only refusing to take part in the strikes, but eschewing the chance to sign a statement in support of them

Basically the biggest powers in Europe disagree, besides Germany but of course the Germans will support Israel, otherwise Israel will bring up the Holocaust!

The peace negotiations have been broken many times, by both sides, the Yemeni government and the Houthis, but there has been no all out war by the two sides. But the peace negotiations never mentioned or included anyone else, especially in international waters.

the shipping lanes have been protected by various methods that began with the GWB administration. We even had some cooperation from China when they sent their warships to protect Chinese vessels in those shippingt lanes. We had an international task force, Task Force 15x from time to time.

 

We dont bomb Europe or South America or North America or Antarctica.
