Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is considering stepping down after the South Carolina Republican primary. She told Donald Trump at a meeting on Monday at his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate that she will do whatever is best for the party, including resigning. However, no concrete plan for her departure was agreed, according to CBS News, the BBC's US partner. It comes after Mr Trump hinted that Ms McDaniel should leave her post. "I think she did great when she ran Michigan for me," he told Fox News on Sunday. "I think she did OK, initially, in the RNC. I would say right now, there'll probably be some changes made." Mr Trump chose Ms McDaniel to lead the party in 2017 after she served as chair of the Michigan Republican Party. She has faced pressure to resign over the party's poor performance in recent elections and lacklustre fundraising. Asked by conservative network Newsmax on Monday whether Ms McDaniel should step down for these reasons, Mr Trump said: "Well, I think she knows that. I think she understands that." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68224549 ___________________________________ On the fundraising, the gap between the RNC and the Democrats is wide. The RNC has declared that it has $8 million on hand, while the Democratic Party has $21 million. Biden currently has $117 million in his safe. Trump.... around $45 million.... which will soon be swallowed up by his legal fees.... and Melania's stylist/political advisor. In short, McDaniel is resigning because the big donors don't believe Trump can win.
Hope those big doners are right. The party is losing so much BECAUSE of Trump and no one else. Typical Trump blaming some one else for the problems.
She offered her resignation to Trump? Why? Is he the de facto party leader, or is it official somehow? Will he be choosing her replacement? The GOP seems to be in total chaos. They have only themselves to blame.
I wonder why she was told to leave. Was she too Trump or not Trump enough? Hard to say. Maybe she was just sick of the inmates running the prison, which could very well become a literal reality soon.
Trump really has no loyalty to anyone but himself. She has gone to bat for numerous times in the past, and when things get rocky, he bails on her.
Another cancel culture by Trump. I always liked how Jeff Sessions responded to Trump, "as per your request, I am submitting my resignation."
Here is the odd scenario, Trump may actually win this election, but his down ballot history is extremely poor performance.
So we should suck up to the Big Donors like dims do? And here I thought democrats were against the MIC (militaryindustrialcomplex) My bad
She should not have been reelected as the party chair in the first place. She failed miserably in 2022 and, and should have stepped down then. The party is better off with her gone.
That will not happen until he is rotting in the ground He is making too much money to quit, as such he will be involved in every election until he no longer can be. Remember when Republicans screamed once a president leaves office they should stay out of politics?
You are right. He lost the election, and yet he made sure to remain the center of media attention and conversation . He is addicted to publicity, and power and will not recede into the background . He will make sure his exit from planet earth is as sensational and publicity worthy as he can.
IMO, it's both. Evangelicals are calling him "God's chosen." I know they don't like it, I wouldn't either, but the definition fits.
It's damn near the end of 1Q24 and DFT is not only not in jail yet, he's the R candidate yet again. I'll go with centrist Joe, come Nov: easy
The fact that some deify him, suggests strongly of a cult like mentality. Actually, It is kinda scary to hear some of those fanatics talk like that. You would think they lived in some historical era . All this means is that they will support him no matter how crazy he acts and talks.
He has a lot of control / influence and it is done by fear . Even the legal system is having trouble being "legal" fair and objective as he is so nasty, he brings out negative emotions in most rational peple. He holds people emotionally hostage with threats , name calling, rants and other t toxicity. That is how dictators operate.
Here's my poll as to why fundraising is down, and losses are up: 1. It's Donald Trump's fault; 2. It's the Orange Dingleberry's fault; or 3. It's the Dotard's fault. Make your pick.
