The hippie movement and the weather underground in the 60’s were very left wing and communistic and held Marxist ideals. They were also founded by a college. They were anti war just as the current college morons marching around.

that era also bread Charles Manson and “the family”. They tried, unsuccessfully, to hide their attacks behind political groups like the black panthers. Likewise they were hippies. Both groups embraced sex and drugs. I myself am strongly against drugs being their link to a great majority of murderers, 74% of them to be exact. Those two groups were a stain on the hippie movement that many of them were actually very disappointed in at the time. I’m not a hippie fan cause it’s all peace and love until they don’t get their way. More like spoiled kids who can’t hold a job in my opinion.

Advocating for the destruction of this country is not protected speech by the 1st. Wildly confused how so many people seem to think the 1st is an absolute right. It is not.

I grant you, the internet has made the influence much more potent and private, but Jane Fonda happily flew to Hanoi to be treasonous.

Well, she continued to make movies and run her career, but indeed it did take a hit.
Actions have consequences, and in this case the blowback was more evident later, after the war.

One of my old bosses owned land in Nebraska. One day a limo rolled up the road and stopped in front of the ranch house, and Ted Turner himself stepped out. Turns out, he wanted to buy the ranch and was offering a premium for the land.

The boss turned him down. In an effort to save the deal, Ted arrogantly said; "Well, my wife, Jane Fonda, is in the car, would you like to meet her?"

If we fingerprint all citizens and people legally entitled to work here, we can require every employer, even of casual labor, to check on who is legally entitled to work with a smartphone. Employers caught hiring illegals pay a huge fine. Egregious violators get a felony conviction and time in the slammer.
