The hippie movement and the weather underground in the 60’s were very left wing and communistic and held Marxist ideals. They were also founded by a college. They were anti war just as the current college morons marching around. here is an article that identifies them as hippies https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/hippie-terrorism-the-weather-underground/ that era also bread Charles Manson and “the family”. They tried, unsuccessfully, to hide their attacks behind political groups like the black panthers. Likewise they were hippies. Both groups embraced sex and drugs. I myself am strongly against drugs being their link to a great majority of murderers, 74% of them to be exact. Those two groups were a stain on the hippie movement that many of them were actually very disappointed in at the time. I’m not a hippie fan cause it’s all peace and love until they don’t get their way. More like spoiled kids who can’t hold a job in my opinion.
Advocating for the destruction of this country is not protected speech by the 1st. Wildly confused how so many people seem to think the 1st is an absolute right. It is not.
Maybe at state levels but not at the federal level. The federal level of supporting slavery was abolished with the 14th amendment in the 1869 or 1868 I can’t remember when exactly it was ratified.
So you wouldn't want to have lived anywhere in that period? Not many would because it was a hard life for pretty much everyone.
The point was, before the internet college kids were subject to influences that were anti American and just as outrageous as today with the internet. I grant you, the internet has made the influence much more potent and private, but Jane Fonda happily flew to Hanoi to be treasonous. And you have to agree; she did much more than chant "death to America".
Well, she continued to make movies and run her career, but indeed it did take a hit. Actions have consequences, and in this case the blowback was more evident later, after the war. One of my old bosses owned land in Nebraska. One day a limo rolled up the road and stopped in front of the ranch house, and Ted Turner himself stepped out. Turns out, he wanted to buy the ranch and was offering a premium for the land. The boss turned him down. In an effort to save the deal, Ted arrogantly said; "Well, my wife, Jane Fonda, is in the car, would you like to meet her?" The boss responded "no, but my wife is in the house, would you like to meet her?" OK. Full disclosure. This is a joke that was circulating years ago, and I thought it was funny. But I really did have a boss who owned a ranch in Nebraska. He was a bigger ass than Jane Fonda, but not because of his politics. Because he was just plain an ass.
Are you German? They have open borders. France-Germany border We don't have open borders. USA-Mexico border We could actually go after employers hiring illegals. If we fingerprint all citizens and people legally entitled to work here, we can require every employer, even of casual labor, to check on who is legally entitled to work with a smartphone. Employers caught hiring illegals pay a huge fine. Egregious violators get a felony conviction and time in the slammer.
True. And anti-Semitism is racism. College Student Aces Final By Just Answering ‘Racism!’ To Every Question. 'According to sources, local English major Charlie Miller was able to ace her final exam by simply writing in the word “racism!” for every answer.' “Yeah, I completely forgot to study last night so I figured I would try it,” she said. “90% of my lectures this year were just hour-long sessions of my professor saying ‘racism’ over and over again in different inflections, so I figured my chances were pretty good if I made that the answer to all the test questions.” The Skidmore College English professor who delivered the passing grade explained her rationale. “Charlie’s test answers weren’t technically correct, but they spoke to a deeper truth: everything is racist. At Skidmore College, creating leftist radicals who can find racism everywhere and help us burn down Western Civilization is much more important than educating people. For that reason, we decided to give her a passing grade!” 'Somebody’s on her way to becoming the next CEO of NPR! (Or Google, the New York Times, MSNBC, etc.)' Next the correct answer to everything will be DEATH TO AMERICA!
Not so in England, where there was no slavery and mass torture and lynchings of non white folk. Step outside of your bubble. Hence no "death to England" protests here.
