Of course, there have been other substances going back even farther that have been claimed to cure cancer, such as Dr. Wilhelm Reich's orgone energy. However, Dr. Burzynski's treatment has been scrutinized scientifically for decades and seems to be quite effective. I've known about his work since the early 1990s, but it goes back to the '70s. Thus, an apparent cure for many forms of cancer - peptides called "antineoplastons" - has been known for some 35 years but has been battled against and suppressed by governmental agencies and medical authorities since that time. The documentary linked below, "Burzynski, the Movie," is available for free until June 13th, after which time it will be for sale, with the proceeds used to help get FDA approval of his treatment. The film - which, oddly enough, was directed by a friend of mine, Eric Merola - is well worth watching. If Dr. Burzynski had been taken more seriously decades ago, there's a strong chance my beloved mother would be alive today, instead of succumbing to ovarian cancer and radiation/chemo. Less educated dying off quicker... Cancer death rate gap widens based on education 17 June`11 - The gap in cancer death rates between college graduates and those who only went to high school is widening, the American Cancer Society reported Friday.
"Just because we're measuring education doesn't mean we think education is the direct reason" On average, the more educated have better jobs, higher incomes, live less stressful lives and have better access to healthcare. Of course the educated tend to live longer.
There are plenty of cures for cancer. However, when it is claimed that someone has developed THE cure for cancer that person has been full of (*)(*)(*)(*) 100% of the time, just ask Steve McQueen who went and got a THE cure for cancer that whackjobs were saying was being hidden by big pharma. Oh wait, he's (*)(*)(*)(*)ing dead.
He doesn't claim he has the cure for cancer. What he claims is he has a better success rate with none of the side effects.
This is like the 50th thread about this I've seen this week. Everyone out there is claiming it's THE cure for cancer. The fact is that there's no conspiracy, it just doesn't work as well as conventional treatments according to studies not done by this man.
There are no "cure" for cancer. There are however treatments and therapies. Anyone who has been successfully treated for a cancer will always have the possibility of a recurrence of the disease.
My point was that most laymen interpret the word "cure" as therapy causing the complete elimination of a disease without the possibility of recurrence. In that sense, there is no cure for cancer.
Yeah, but to those who bother to look up definitions it seems cure is more defined as a return to normal conditions rather than the magical pill that does everything.
"Normal" infers the same potential for recurrence as someone who has never had cancer. One who has been successfully treated for a cancer will always have a higher risk of recurrence than one who has never had the disease. In my profession we never use the word "cure" when describing the efeects of a treatment or therapy with a patient.
Brits develop vaccine to cure prostate cancer in mice... British Doctors Successfully Test Cancer Vaccine in Mice June 19, 2011 - British researchers say they have developed a vaccine that appears to cure prostate cancer in mice. The vaccine works by triggering the body's own immune system to attack cancer cells while leaving healthy cells alone.
It's a nasty disease. In my own close-to-home experiences with various cancers the Drs never refer to it as a "cure". One oncologist simply put it to my wife that she is not cured despite being "cancer free" for 10 years. Others who I have loved were not as fortunate. The best thing I have seen so far is to live as healthy a lifestyle as possible but even that is no gaurantee.
Note; anyone who claims that the government and big business is suppressing their paradigm-changing new technology or discovery is lying to you, and trying to scam you out of your money.
His numerous patients would disagree with you I'm sure. BTW, send me the links to those studies and make sure they are not commissioned by the FDA. Because the FDA in a court of law has already admitted his treatments work. They also tried to steal his patents but were not successful.
Hmmm, I wonder why my colleages (especially those in the hematology/oncology field) never heard of Dr. Burzynski or his miraculous cure for cancer in medical school, residency, or fellowhip training? (Hint: sarcasm) If this guy was a true miracle, genius, humanitarian as you are making him out to be, why didn't he spread his incredible discovery to every major cancer center in the country? Also, why was he found guilty of fraud?
There is no such thing as a cure or vaccine for cancer. That's like saying there's a cure for viral infections. There are many many types of cancer, all with different pathologies. You might find a cure for a particular cancer or classification of cancer, more aptly a treatment that is proven effective against it. You might find a way to prevent a particular cancer or cancers within a certain classification, but it will not be effective against other cancers. We don't even know the cause of all cancers, so how can we vaccinate against them?
Sure there is. Just recently, Cannabis Science, Inc. (cannabisscience.com) developed a topical formula, involving cannabis extracts, that cured skin cancer on several test-patients. Now, they're just waiting for FDA approval. Will cannabis work for all cancers? Probably not, but I'm fascinated by the possibilites we will find through future research. Just imagine what we could've found out years ago, if it weren't for the stupid laws we have in place. Do we know what causes cancers? We know part of that answer. Take a look at the average persons diet. I believe that the cure for everything is in nature.
This thread is full of misinformation. Reasonoverideology was most correct when he says cancer cannot be cured as a whole. A malignant tumor is the cause of a death due to cancer, it can be in any tissue in any shape or form. Of the thousands of types of cancers, there may be hundreds of ways in each type for the cells reproductive machinery to err, anywhere from deletions or additions of DNA to aneuploidy, to protein signaling etc. 'The cure' will come when we are sophisticated enough to quickly and systematically pinpoint the incorrect DNA sequences of the oncogene and suppressor of the tumor in question, and synthesize a retrovirus able to latch in and utilize the cell machinery to repair the specific tissue. In time we will be advanced enough to cure any cancer in this way. It will take many hundreds or thousands of years, at which point the next phase of human sickness will plague advanced nations to be cured. Big business is not hindering this research in anyway, neither is the government. Quite the contrary, cancer research and treatment is an extremely lucrative multi-billion dollar industry subsidized and funded in many ways by the government.
Right, because Big Business is only concerned with curing the symptoms, not the disease, everyone knows that. That's why they don't develop and market cures for anything . . . right? Is the American Cancer Society in on it too? http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/...ionid=8C487C0CF047D58CBDAE942B01A5DEF4.d03t02
