George Washington was a hippie when he said stay out of entangling alliances? Good grief, the excuses people come up with to avoid grappling with these crucial issues intelligently.
Antagonizing Iran is a common sense foreign policy? It sounds like they advocate poking tigers with sticks to me.
it really isn't. his foreign policy has been consistent since he entered politics. he isn't a truther. lol
Realizing you have enemies outside your borders...and knowing who your friends are outside your borders....is very important when you have the responsibility to keep this country safe. And that is the job of the President. To keep this country safe and secure from its enemies.
Perhaps Ron Paul wants to create less enemies for the US. Are you suggesting that people just naturally become our enemies or are they given a reason?
I'd be pretty concerned with the regulations involving voter fraud if I were allowed to vote. Considering that I'm not a citizen. Yet.
Our current Foreign Policy is as Old as the Egyptian Empire... I think I'd rather stick with 1791 being peaceful rather than Imperialism which has existed since the Dawn of Nations.
I can become a citizen any time I want. I already passed my literary test and my citizenship test with flying colors. All I need to do is get sworn in.
We're not imperialist. I don't remember taking over any countries recently and claiming them in the name of our supreme ruler Obammassiah And by your local, in 1971 the US was Imperialist too, with that Manifest Destiny thing and all.
Imperialism: The policy of extending a nation's authority by territorial acquisition or by the establishment of economic and political hegemony over other nations. Hegemony: Leadership or dominance, esp. by one country or social group. The United States of America has setup so many coups in the past 60yrs and invaded plenty of countries to extend it's Political Dominance. I would definately say that's Imperialistic...
Great. Now let's discuss what policy would actually reduce Iran's incentive to seek a nuke: antagonizing them with bellicose saber-rattling and sanctions or reducing tensions through free trade and diplomacy?
Is that THE definition of Imperialism or your definition? Imperialism: im·pe·ri·al·ism the policy of extending the rule or authority of an empire or nation over foreign countries, or of acquiring and holding colonies and dependencies. advocacy of imperial interests. imperial government. British . the policy of so uniting the separate parts of an empire with separate governments as to secure for certain purposes a single state.
Reread the first and second definitions you gave me... they're exactly what I gave. When the United States extends its authority over Nations through Military Aggression or Coups that in itself is Imperialism.
How do you not see it? "the policy of Extending the Rule or Authority of an Empire or Nation over foreign countries..." "...or by the establishment of... political hegemony over other nations." They both say Dominance over a Foreign Nation Politically and the United States has put Dictators in Power that were Pro-USA while also Invading Nations then placing a Government that was Pro-USA over the conquered Nation. Either you're simply ignoring the truth on the matter or simply would not like to see the USA being that of an Imperialist Nation.
Well, the British burned Washington DC in 1814. Kinda throws the 'pretty much secure from another foreign threat' idea out the window. It could be considered a 9/11 equivalent but the Constitution sufficed in that time. So what's so dangerous about a Ron Paul?
The only thing that will stop Iranian Theocracy's drive for the acquisition of nuclear weapons would be clear and convincing evidence that there is no Allah.
Or you could simply remove the initiative for them to attempt it by simply giving them no reason to produce it. There is only one road in the minds of so many and that involves direction action through the Military...
America is in retreat every where on earth. Any one can see that it is in the process of committing suicide. The Iranian Theocracy's motives seem to me to be based on an atavistic drive to recreate past glory fused with a belief that their god wills it. God is Great.
So... if we decide not to be an Imperialist country the Imperialism will die? I'm for it. Ah... Good Ole Iran! You mean the Monster we created because of our same exact Foreign Policy you're defending? I find it laughable you wish to continue down a road in which we slay the monsters we create when we could simply stop creating Monsters to begin with.
