I would imagine that with the US's some 150 million selective service applications (A draft would of course be re-instated should a war like that occur) the EU would have an awfully hard time getting anything but absolutely crushed. Don't let the US near failure in Afghanistan confuse you, a war with an organized military and specific targets would be an absolute win for the US. Not the mention the US has the industry to support that kind of war machine. They proved it in WWII, and it has only gotten better over the years.
WHAT.........your post is on the wrong thread. 150 million Americans, most of them dont know where Europe is...........never mind being capable of flying fighter planes, which is what this thread is about. No way could the US airforce crush the combined Europeans airforces.........you need to do some research. Too many Americans are insular and dont know the capabilties of other nations. Anyway the Europeans could count on a much larger population to join their cause. Blinkin heck!!
the EU's air forces would be crushed, but it would be before a single US fighter took flight....if it ever came to that, which it won't.
Another post on the wrong thread! Oh yeah....EU airforces crushed before a single US fighterplane got involved! Your having a laugh...........i like you Americans, but some of you are obviously quite delusional! FACT: The US doesn't actually possess some sort of 'doomsday weapon' that could take out all of the EU's airforces...........and if it did it would surely be spotted.......and destroyed!!!!!!
I have. But that is not an air-to-air weapon. It is only of use if the enemy fighters are caught on the ground outside of their bunkers.
Exactly.........its not worth commenting on this anymore as its getting too silly. There is actually another thread here about US and European forces engaging each other in a conflict. This thread is about the merits of USAF and RAF pilots!
i never said it was. their nuclear warheads have been removed by treaty. if things get so bat-(*)(*)(*)(*) crazy that there's a shooting war between the US and the EU, you think they won't go back on? not that it would really be necessary. destroy the barracks and put some craters in their airfields and they have no air force.
What?................you are gonna need a helluva lot of tomahawks to take out the EU airforces, for a start there's thousands of planes spread around thousands of square miles. You dont think the European airforces are going to be grounded do you, they'll be too busy sending the US warships to the bottom of the atlantic.
Both, if you read, your article says it's NOW the 4th largest Air Force in the World, where Wikipedia is stating the Canada had the 4th largest Air Force at the end of WWII. Two different time periods.
we got plenty, and we'll make more. there's been one successful anti-ship missile attack on a US warship since 1945, and only because it's air defenses were turned off. the ship still returned to port under it's own power after two hits.
What happens when those European countries need spare parts? More than a dozen European countries operate U.S. aircraft as their main fighter and virtually ALL of them have U.S. aircraft/technology in inventory. Hard to get spare parts from a country that you're at war with. Also, the EU isn't anywhere close to being a fully functional military force. NATO (of which the U.S. is an instrumental member of) is far more effective at join operations than the EU. Thousands of planes....flown by pilots speaking dozens of languages, trained in doznes of different techniques isn't an effective force. Anyway, this is a stupid argument but you're getting a bit nippy so I thought I'd interject.
None of that matters. We have 187 F-22 Raptors in service or production. The RAF has NO fifth-generation fighters, and only a handful of Typhoons. The RAF would get pasted before the two forces entered each others' visual ranges.
as it has been mentioned earlier, the F-22s are grounded. apparently the pilots need something to breathe, and anti-freeze doesn't count.
not if we want the pilots to breathe oxygen. human lungs are kinda fussy like that. it would be reckless and fool hardy to risk American lives to throw rocks when walking up and punching them in the face with F-15s is still viable.
Yes, this is getting silly............as this has all been covered by the thread 'US vs Europe...who would win'. But one of your countrymen seemed to of not read the title of this thread 'USAF vs RAF' in regards to the training skills of the pilots on a 1:1 battle..............and got into his fixation for the 'TOMAHAWK' missile.
Of course, the US has also not been involved in any real naval engagements since WWII either. So that probably has something to do with this. And there are actually 2. I believe you are refering to the USS Stark, which was hit by Iraqi Exocet missiles. But over a decade earlier the USS Liberty was struck with Israeli Bullpup missiles. However, there have been a lot of other real life incidents that have involved many nations, including Iran, India, Pakistan, the UK and Argentina. And they show how serious of a threat they can be. In the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, most of the Pakistan Navy was destroyed by missiles. And a decade later in 1982, both sides took heavy losses due to missiles, most notably the HMS Sheffeld and MV Atlantic Conveyor after they were struck by Exocet missiles. However, the Argentines were juts as successfull with "dumb bombs", as was shown by the sinking of the HMS Antelope and HMS Ardent. None of these have anything to do with USAF-RAF.
No, we cannot. It is not a matter of grounding them because we want to. It is grounding them because we have to.
That was a very interesting time. Sadly, very few people seem to remember or have read about the Tanker War. This conflict helped bring to a close the Iran-Iraq war, as well as form the alliance that would lead to the 1990 Gulf War.
Robin Olds on the left, don't know the other guy... Ace shmace...yes the fighter was/is vital for air superiority... but as often as the Germans brag about their aces in WWII, they still lost the war. Do you know why? because... Fighter pilots make movies... Bomber pilots make history...
