Travis County averages 34 inches of rain per year. 2011 to date, we've had 6 inches of rain...none of which, not one drop, hit SW Travis County.

9 straight months of no rain, geesh, if I wanted to live in Az, I'd have moved there!

    All my dreams are wet...

Ok, those might work, but perhaps this may as well.

I know how it is, living in TX, waiting for every drop of rain falling from the sky...and yes, I have danced in the rain. It was great.

We now have concurrent wildfires going on all four sides of the city.
There are over 1 million people in the city alone, and things are looking serious.
My nephew is a firefighter in Kerrville (nearby county) and he has told us that word has gone out that neighboring counties will not be sending any assistance to Austin -- they can't, the threats are too real for their own counties.

Howdy, any rain in Texas yet?
Why isn't smartie doing the rain dance? C'mon people, pray. Really, and seriously.
    So, where is my breakfast?

It's raining in Wales, but that doesn't help! I'd try to send some of it over, but I suspect the internet wires wouldn't work to well if they were all soggy!

    Here!
Fortunately (if that word is in any way applicable), the damage right now is happening to the east of us. The fires on the north side (both ne and nw) have been contained. Though one of the towns further north (Leander) has now got a fire going. We are on the southwest side of town and still holding on.

Temps have dropped drastically. Last night I was able to open the windows and sleep in the night air...wow! It was just wonderful!!!
It is extremely unfortunate that the same wind that has blown the heat off, has also sparked off and fueled these fires.

The heat in Texas this year literally sucked the rain out of one tropical depression and turned the remnants of a hurricane into a county wide wildfire...in my many seasons, I've never seen anything like it!

Our forecast is calling for 60s at night, then back to triple digit days and 90s nights come Sunday...there is still no hint of rain in the forecast.

Eldest son's in-laws have collectively lost 5 homes. Mom's friend lost 13 horses.

I have lost over 400 exotic succulents, many irreplaceable, in the course of this heatwave, but shut my mouth, everyone is alive.

I grow succulents too...well I try. I do really well at killing them off without help from mother nature.
