Is obama trying to..... Trying to buy votes... Wasting money we dont have.. Raising the debt ceiling... Making the lazy lazyer...Oh imagine that,, lazy people getting more stuff for free....

or does he "think" he's helping our economic growth by increaseing dependancy...

This guys tool bag just keeps getting bigger and bigger....:omg:

"The American public's dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.

The conservative think tank's annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks money spent on housing, health, welfare, education subsidies and other federal programs that were "traditionally provided to needy people by local organizations and families."

The increase under Obama is the biggest two-year jump since Jimmy Carter was president, the data show.

The rise was driven mainly by increases in housing subsidies, an expansion in Medicaid and changes to the welfare system, along with a sharp rise in food stamps, the study found.

"You can't get around the fact that policy decisions made over the past two years, on top of those made over the past several decades, are having a large effect on the pace of growth of the index," said William Beach, who authored the Heritage study.

Dependence on the government has climbed steadily since 1962, when the index stood at 19. By 1980, the index had risen to 100. It stood at 294 in 2010, the last year for which the data are available. The D.C.-based Heritage Foundation has produced the index for nine years.

The report also found that spending on "dependence programs" accounts for more than 70% of the federal budget. That, too, is up dramatically. In 1990, for example, the figure stood at 48.5%, and in 1962 just over a quarter of federal spending went to dependence programs.

At the same time, fewer Americans pay income taxes, the report notes. Almost half (49.5%) didn't pay income taxes in 2009, the latest year for which the researchers have data. Back in the late 1960s, only 12% of Americans escaped the income tax burden.

    Other findings:

The number of people dependent on the federal government shot up 7.5% over the past two years.

In 2010, for the first time ever, average spending on dependence programs per recipient exceeded the country's per-capita disposable income.

The dependency index has dipped only seven times in the past 49 years, three of which were under President Reagan and two under President Clinton.

Some observers say the rise in dependence under Obama is merely a reflection of the deep and long recession.

But Beach says his team's research shows that economic effects account for only one-fifth of the change in the index.

Dependent people are a lucrative group for Democrats. When you depend on the Government for your subsistence, you are more unlikely to vote for those who want to shrink the role of Government.

Don't you worry about a thing ... I'm sure Newt will be announcing his public forum to the NAACP and the entire Black Race on how he plans to turn Welfare Check into Pay-Checks!

Just wait ... I'm sure he'll be backing up those words any day now.

You mean that he's tasked with saving Americans well being after the miserable Bush years? You are correct.
What do you think made Americans more dependent on social services? Couldn't be the Bush recession could it?! NAaaaaaa!

Bush kept full employment for most of his Presidency. He had nothing to do with the mortgage collapse. How nice of you to parrot Rachel Maddow "ZOMG BLAME BUSH!" talking points, though.

The goal for some is to have every American dependent and therefore controlable. Dedpendent for health care, jobs, food, housing. Hey, it worked for a long time for the USSR. Iritated the goverment and lose your home, your job, your food coupons, and your kids won't go to college. Life in the Democrat Gulag.

So, like I said, Bush kept full employment for most of his Presidency. I suppose to very clueless people facts would seem disconnected from reality.

The recession happened on Bush's watch. The recovery is happening on Obama's watch.
Sooooo..... everything that is wrong with our country is Obama's fault?!

Obama has prolonged the recession and put us more in debt than any single President has in history. All we have to show for it is a higher unemployment rate than we had when he took over, more people on food stamps today than ever before, and a housing market that not only has not recovered, but is still getting worse. What a "recovery"

Explain how the recession was Bush's fault. Go ahead.

That's analogous to saying "The car ran great at full throttle with no oil in the engine, but then (duh) the engine blew! So I gave the car away to some poor sucker that wants to try to fix it. Good luck sucker!"

If you have some evidence that those numbers are wrong, feel free to insert your own. Just remember to cite your sources.

Those are the official rates. Do you believe what the government says the unemployment rate is?

Lordy no. Everything that's happened has been Bush's fault. Attacking Libya, Bush's fault. Driving unemployment up? Bush's fault. Pissing away trillions? Bush's fault. And, how much more of an Obama Recovery can we stand? Solyndra, anyone?

The nitwit in the White House is absolutely irresponsible. Nothing is, has been, or every will be his responsibility.

But, he's doing the best he can, poor thing.

Bush's first 6 1/2 years of presidency created millions of jobs, had an unemployment percentage averaging about 4 1/2, and gas prices were very low. It wasn't until Janurary of 2007 when the dems took control of congress did Bush begin to act like a tax and spend liberal--that eventualy gave us a recession in which obama made that mini recession an actual depression of both personal lives and of our economy in general.

So it comes as no surprise that welfare dendency under obama's socialist run govt is exploding off the charts.
