I doubt this will pass, but still, it's hard to believe that some are willing to go so far in controlling others.

I don't like this law, but this is a tough thing to combat. I guess the best thing you can say is to keep them inside or away.

I have to wonder how badly the children were actually affected by cigarette smoke in an outdoor area. I'd wager there is a good chance the parents are the hyper reactive kind.

I live in heavily Republican/Conservative Orange County CA, and most are quite in favor of banning smoking everywhere, on beaches, parks and in your apartment or condo/townhouse, now that many have quit.

I have kidded a few on why they think power plants still should be able to blow smoke into the air, but they say "Oh, they are out in the country".

That's exactly what I was thinking.....

To ban a smoker from smoking on his own property is really pushing it way to far.......

Anyone considered that the parents smoke inside and throw out the children to the elements?

Well. It won't be long before tobacco fatwa is introduced in Kalifornia, making it only the third such legislature in the world (a tobacco fatwa was issued in Iran in 1891, and Egypt in 2000)

Might be a dumb question, but if CA allows medical cannabis, do they have to smoke in designated pot areas, or does that kind of smoke fall into a different category.
If so, can one rally for medical nicotin, to calm one's nerves and such?

Not to mention those 'pesticide sprays' that those services apply once a week in those uppity Rocklin neighborhoods. Those poisonous carcinogens wafting through the air on a hot summer day can make a sensitive person nauseous. Plus the city trucks rolling around with that mosquito spray. In Davis, (known here as 'The Republic of Davis), not that far from Rocklin, If you get busted smoking within 10 feet of a tree...you get a ticket. (I wonder if the 3 strikes law applies)

California IS a social experiment of the left.

We don't own our property anyways, so it's only a matter of time before the government says the can ban whatever they want on your so called "property.

People need to wake up. We don't own our land, the government does, why do you think you pay a tax on it every year???? It was only a matter of time folks!

I seem to recall some cities in CA going after BBQs and power mowers a few years back.

In nearby to me Butte County they have wood stove burning restrictions often in the winter time due to air quality. Pellet stoves with government approved emissions devices are okay though.

I live in Butte County..you'd be amazed at the number of homes here, especially in Paradise and Magalia only have wood burning stoves to heat in the late fall through spring. Mostly owned by folks that simply can't afford to have a heating system installed.

They always add the disclaimer that if a wood stove is your only source of heat then it's okay to burn on those days. Which makes me wonder why they mention it at all.

But just the fact that they make that announcement and have that "law" or "restriction" or whatever they want to call it rubs me the wrong way.

I think the power plants should be shut down immediately. It's for the children.

I'm old enough to remember when most people smoked wherever they pleased and of course all of mankind was on the verge of extinction from either smoking or second-hand smoke. It's a miracle that I was the sole survivor. Well, and my sister. And my cousins. And everyone else I knew. But, I'm sure second-hand smoke is deadly. Must be.

While they ban smoking, sprays, driving, etc, I also believe the guy should be required to install a closed air system in his home to ensure there are no impurities or face charges of child abuse.

This is really stupid, and such things should not even be considered by government.
