Yeah right. I bet you have met all kinds of people who believe this. I have lived in Louisiana my whole life and I have never met 1 person who thinks you can pray away a disease. So let's quit acting like these kinds of people are all over the place down here.
That's for sure but the problem is that's a fallacy. Spending more money helps brings you out of economic recession. Debt can be handled later.
I believe you. Head over to Alabama and Georgia. I've lived in both places and such people are shockingly common. Louisiana is very Catholic. The other two states are not. Totally different demographics. Catholics believe some silly things, but not that prayer will fix your clogged arteries. At least you all came around on the whole earth rotating around the sun thing. Tossed folks in jail over that one as I recall.
Ok, then I fully expect you to put your own money where your mouth is and send your family into debt you know you can't pay off, and keep spending to see if you come out on the other side. Come on, I want to see a liberal practice what they preach for once.
I happen to be Catholic...lol. Bama and Georgia aren't predominantly Catholic, I agree, but your not gonna find people like this around every corner. It's a very small percentage at best. And at the end of the day, if that is their belief, then that is their belief. If we are gonna complain about them being able to vote, I think we need to look at the other side that votes in favor of everything central government hands down as "just". Far more of them, then the guy who thinks praying away a disease alone will get the job done. It may, miracles do happen but most people who pray to get rid of a disease are also working to do everything they can to fight that disease.
Not really a huge prediction given where you live. I think you could accurately say that. But that percentage is bigger than what someone outside those states would think. We even had a governor lead a prayer for rain. It did not work. He should have waited until there was actually rain in the forecast. I complain about both.
remember this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJY0NuBC7vo"]Dobson crony prays for rain on Obama's Speech in Denver - YouTube[/ame] to bad for him the weather shifted and it was McCain rather then Obama that got the rain... lol
Well, if you pray for rain enough it is bound to "work" eventually. My suggestion for success is to pick a day when rain is actually called for. If you pick a day expected to be bright and sunny your prayer has a greatly lowered chance for success (that is what happened here).
Although I did not vote for the Lib Obama, I am gratefull for his election and getting rid of the Race Card.
Gee! If this thread is "making fun" of Southerners who believe "Obama is a muslim", by logical extension, the thread "makes fun" of you, too. You should complain to the management.
This is precisely why this non-sense is ridiculous to discuss in terms of logical debate. Its simply used as a means of trying to demonize the otherside like a bunch of cheerleaders. Lets review some of the actual questions, from a grand total of 660 people. Q1 Do you plan to vote in the Republican primary or the Democratic primary, or are you not sure? Republican primary 100% ......................................... Democratic primary 0% ......................................... Not sure 0% Q17 If you are a Democrat, press 1. If a Republican, press 2. If an independent, press 3. Democrat 3% ........................................................ Republican 76% ...................................................... Independent 21% Did 20 people just admit to being democrats trying to affect the outcome? Not to mention 21% "independent", which were polled after the primaries, which means they are probably democrats too? Q24 Do you think that interracial marriage should be legal or illegal? Legal 67% ............................................................... Illegal 21% .............................................................. Not sure 12% I wonder why that didn't make it into the linked article? Oh, I know why! Because it didn't portray the south as inbred, red neck, bigoted evil republicans!
You not going to get very far if you keep denying something over and over and over. Help yourself and read both sides of the argument, think about it and then reply. I suspect you might even read.
Remember the story of the man stranded at see, who passed up 3 opportunities to escape it and rejected each saying that God would save him. When he died he got to heaven and asked God why he'd be forsaken. The Lord told him he'd sent help 3 different times and he'd rejected them. Same with modern medicine.
Many "slips of the tong", his many other admissions, having 2 Muslim fathers, studying Cu'ran in skrul, living in Muslim country.
