My thoughts exactly. Russia is just a ridiculous place to invade. The Russian climate screwed both Napoleon and Hitler; even with all the might of the Chinese military I expect they'd do no better.

Russia did rather crush Georgia, a NATO equiped nation. And Georgia had to be saved by NATO.

Russia's Georgia campaign exposed the weaknesses in the Russian military. It goes into combat blind. If it faced a peer power it would be eaten alive.

The Russians were forced to use heavy bombers to do the recon work performed by drones in the western militaries.

They have their own drones now. They are even supplying other countries with them.

You think China could take Russia ? Have you considered that Russia could destroy most of China's assets without even having a soldier set foot in the country ?

Have you read up on Russian missile technology that is many years ahead of the best that the US has ?

Direct confrontation is not usually the Chinese way. The Chinese way is to relentlessly seek comparative advantage. The Russian Far East will pass into China's effective control the way in which portions of the American Southwest are passing into de facto Mexican control. That was also the way the USA won the West.

I doubt that. They have more nuclear missiles than anyone on the planet for starters, they have missile systems to take down aircraft that are considered some of the best in the world and they have resources to die for. That country will get richer and richer as the energy needs of the planet expand, just ask the IMF

Russian Demographics Update: Reports of the Bear's Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

Russia’s demographic stabilization matters because it means that Russia will not, contrary to the predictions of many Western experts, simply vanish from the global stage. Yes Russia will have serious demographic stresses to deal with, but this is true of essentially every country in Europe and is doubly true of the post-Communist countries in the East. Ultimately the long-term driver of any population is the fertility rate and Russia’s total fertility rate is now actually ahead of that of many other European countries. This strongly suggests that Russia’s future demographic challenges will, if anything, be less severe than those of its neighbors.

Not seeing a problem there either.

You're comparing Russian and European fertility levels. Both are dying. One will die before the other. That's hardly a case of success.

No, I was disputing your statement that somehow the Russians are doomed to failure by their demographics. That of course was the 3rd time you changed your argument. You started off on the Russians having no drones and when I supplied an article stating that they did now have them and even export them you changed to "As time passes Russia is running a race in which it will fall further and further behind." but did not actually state any argument so no one knows what you were really on about. I then posted that not only do the Russians have a huge cache of nukes they also have some of the most advanced anti aircraft missile systems in the world and they have huge natural resources.

You then came back with something about " Demographics is destiny. " at which point I provided an article from Forbes magazine stating that the gloom and doom of Russian demographics has been somewhat overstated and they are not actually declining they are in fact increasing, more so than Europe. You could not find anything to dispute this fact so then just posted something about me comparing Russian and European birth rates and claiming they are both dying when the stats said otherwise. Now I think you just have to post something, anything. You just feel the need to do it even though you really have no real comeback. It must be something deep down inside you that will not let you admit that you have lost this debate and had to change the subject 3 times.

There you go yet again, you just have to post any old rubbish. Is this like you have to have the last post? If you have nothing to add to the actual debate then just leave it. You have already lost it but feel the need to post something, anything. My post on your problem again.

Thanks for proving my point. I will quote it again.

Did anyone ever read Red Sorghum by Mo Yan? In the novel the secret of Chinese distilling and brewing is revealed.

silly speculative paranoia...wars are incredibly expensive and stupid why would China go through the expense and trauma of war for resources when Russia is perfectly happy to sell as much as China wishes to purchase... China has become a free market economy it even sells it's own resources to private interests...

It is a penal colony China is it not? Only one in ten families in China have more than one child. Wait for it to put their mistakes into action, then act on your own precious turf. fyntbtntbtntbtntbtgtohntbtntbtntbt.
