Scientists find first superbug strain of gonorrhea

Scientists have found a "superbug" strain of gonorrhea in Japan that is resistant to all recommended antibiotics and say it could transform a once easily treatable infection into a global public health threat.

The new strain of the sexually transmitted disease -- called H041 -- cannot be killed by any currently recommended treatments for gonorrhea, leaving doctors with no other option than to try medicines so far untested against the disease.

Scary stuff to be sure. Antibiotic-resistant bugs are serious business.

Antibiotic-resistant "super bugs" are very scary, but as long as this one stays sexually transmitted and non-fatal I wouldn't worry too much

I've read horror stories about antibiotic-resistant flesh eating diseases, stuff will give you nightmares.

Nothing is drawing up on me.

The only surprise here is that gonorrhea is way behind other more aggressive mutaters. When I was in Thailand (20 months) a couple of guys got what we called "Bull Clap". One guy had to skip his R&R trip home because he was taking a giant shot of penicillin every day for a month before he was cured. One of my hooch-mates got something that had to be cut off of his junk.

Did you know that two STDs from Haiti have killed millions of people? AIDS and Syphilis. AIDs is still behind Syphilis. Syphilis hit Europe when the Spanish introduced it after the rape of the Haitian natives.

He was a rabid Jesus freak who had been very critical of others for falling pray to the immoral Thai culture. He went to a section party with some Thai guys who worked in the bomb dump with him. He got drunk and met a friendly Thai girl who was the cousin of one of the Thai workers. He woke up with her and addicted to sex. I knew that he had been diverted from the moral road because he was no longer in the hooch when I got in from work. I asked what was up but he wouldn't tell.

Then he was back and rattled when he walked so I knew that he was packing sulphur drugs that were used to treat skin infections. I had been in Thailand before so I had seen guys with a range of ailments. Then he seemed pretty nervous so I made him tell me what had happened. When he told me that the lesion had been surgically removed I asked what his wife was going to think about the scare so he told me a story much worse than the one about his battle with the skin infection.

I was very sad form him as he told me that his wife had never seen him naked and he had not seen her naked either. They had sex through holes in their full body night gowns. He had not been alone with her before their wedding night and kissed her only a few times under the supervision of her brother. So his wife had no frame of reference if she should accidently see his equipment.

I was the hooch chief and had been reasonably mean to him and his religious buddy but after that horror story I let up on him for a couple of weeks.

One day I came in and found a wooden box with a lock on it in the bottom of the refrigerator. I didn't like the implication of the lock so I threw the box out on the board walk before I left to go to the USO and when I returned the lock was gone. I sat on Weirdo Wilson's bed one time so he tried to sneak his pillow into his locker to keep it clean I suppose. That left a boot print in his locker door right next to his head. He almost wet his pants.

When I was ready to leave they were so happy that they wanted to go out to celebrate several times. I was happy to see the smiles on their faces over the last couple of weeks.

I liked my hooch-mates for the most part; Mother, Bo, Filthy Fred - the one with the skin condition- and my runny buddy Gentle Ben - the bear from the TV show- but I never did like Weirdo Wilson that much.

 

And these are the losers we're supposed to want leading our country??

BTW, these stories can't be true because there's no evolution remember?

Would a doctor really give someone an antibiotic for a virus? I don't see why that should happen. One thing that does lead to these superstrains, barring the occasional mutant bug that's simply immune from the get-go, is people not taking the full needed dose of antibiotics, so that the more resistant bugs manage to survive. This greatly improves a bug's chances of surviving and passing on those resistant genes.

We already had a super std, it's called HIV which causes one to develop AIDS, another one is called MRSA whether community acquired or Hospital acquired (yes you can pick it up just by being treated in a Hospital), just in case someone hasn't heard of them before.
