I am surrounded by white oak and Douglas fir trees, the back yard has become over grown with orchard grass and the neighbor's yard is full of scotch broom and al manner of wildflowers have come up in the time I was too badly injured to work a lawn mover.

I haven't been able to breathe through my nose since late February.

And acres of blackberries are about to burst into bloom.

    Oy!

If one does mutate enough to slip by for a second foray through my system, it would not likely be so severe as it would be for a younger man.

Yes there's a nasty cold still going round, or some similar virus. Be sure to say thank you to the moron that won't wash his hands or sanitize them after coughing and sneezing into them, while preparing your food, or the mom that won't keep her sick kid at home, and the Dr. that over prescribes prescription anti-biotics for VIRUS's the next time you see them for us all too by the way.

Much to the contrary, if a virus you were recently exposed too, and had antibody's for still were to mutate thus it would be worse for an older gent than a younger one. As a younger man would have a much more robust immune system. Which would much more rapidly recognize the virus. This is why kids tend to bounce back faster than we adults do for example. (Normally, anyways, which I grant, is well not found that often nowadays)

Thanks. There were a couple people in this thread who have described exactly the symptoms I've had. We went to the casino last night, had a couple scotches, a cigar and split 1st place in a texas Hold ' em tournament!
    Symptoms gone!

Sometimes I get sore throats and colds in the summer, it is caused by residual bacteria putting up one last stand before summer comes full force.

The best way to defend against summer colds is to take vitamins maybe once or twice a week since too much can accumulate in the body.

As I've said, that's pretty much a myth. Taking extra vitamins does nothing. Are you suffering from malnutrition?

There is a nasty cold that has been going around. I got it too. First one since 2009.

I also never get a flu shot. Everyone I know that has gotten one has gotten the flu. I haven't had the flu for years. I will wait until I am in the category flu shots are for, the vulnerable elderly, before I ever have someone inject me.

Yes malnutrition weakens the immune system and could lead to a cold in the summer. Bacteria make one last stand before they go home until winter time usually late spring early summer this was proven in a scientific research and explains why this is a common phenomena

The cold isn't caused by bacteria.

The various cold viruses don't hibernate until winter, you're just more likely to be close enough to someonein winter for them to cough or sneeze on you.

That is correct cold viruses hibernate during the summer but they make one last hurrah as we say here in America during early summer late spring.

This is the time most people stop taking their vitamins because the weather is heating up and they feel they won't get sick anymore and often creates a 'perfect storm' scenario which increases the risk of sickness.

Does it have a name? Or is this something CDC is still trying to figure out......

I swear - some of the posts here really crack me up and I tho't everyone knew you can't overdose on Vit C - if you take to many, no harm is done.... but 2 a day works.

One of the healthiest drinks is apple cider vinegar - also very good for acid reflux....

    Anyway, glad you're feeling better.........
