the party claims that seated urination is more hygienic for men -- the practice decreases the likelihood of puddles and other unwanted residue forming in the stall -- in addition to being better for a man's health by more effectively emptying one's bladder

Gee, sounds like a great reason to pass a restrictive law!

I don't know with those dinky toilet seats they have. I was once taking a (*)(*)(*)(*) and needed to pee it sprung up like a fountain hitting the wall in front of me the toilet was too small to stuff my ass and my balls in it at the same time.

    Right, here is a question.

Women, let us be honest, loathe men for their toilet happens, and forever moan about the seat etc.

The toilet is simply not designed for standing up urinating.

    The urinal is though.

Why can't we see more of them fitted into bathrooms, of homes etc?

They don't need to smell, and it would be much more appropriate.

I only ever see them in pubs and restaurants.

    Why not for domestic use?

I believe the Sweds outlawed them. That's the problem.

You mean to tell us that your criteria for "male machismo" is whether or not you can pee standing up?

Wow, I am truly impressed with your deep ideal of manhood!

How would this law be enforced if caught breaking it? Forcing the perpetrators to drink a lot of wine while tying up their genitals until kidneys burst, Caligula-style?

the are quite pricey. not just the fixture, but the plumbing.

but there's hope for home remodelers-waterless urinals :woot:

i'm thinking of putting one in the truck.

That is how I relate to this issue.
If the government wants to make rules about it's own premises alone then that's not half as bad as the long arm of the law dipping into my toilet.
There are a couple of solutions to this that don't involve government intervention like separate toilets and urinals.
However, if us guys cleaned up after they sprinkled while tinkled we probably wouldn't have an issue.
The experiences from my life say that every shared house I've lived in where there are guys consistently had a golden film and the sweet smell of urea coming from the toilet, the bowl, the floor, the walls and even down the corridor for those late night breadcrumbs. We would mostly only clean it before sitting down on it and otherwise would let the funk build as clear evidence that a women's experience of this room was either unimportant or unconsidered.
As much as I dislike big intra or inter government, it seems like some women have had enough of the years and years of cleaning up their male counterparts thoughtlessness or inability to aim.

Making it illegal seems extreme but sometimes the only way to get someone's attention over the roar of a waterfall is to SHOUT!

I'd like to know if they plan on making it illegal to flush bloody tampons down the toilet and clog up the drains? It is of course biohazard, so how do they propose to resolve this dilemma along with the presently unsanitary urinary conditions faced by the ill-aimed males?

I'd be peeing on the walls in protest until they put back the urinals if I lived in Sweden.

Indeed. Any shared toilets should have a tampon/sanitary towel bin in a corner. Maybe the other corner can contain another bin for guys to throw toilet paper used to clean after themselves.
Or you could always be this guy...

I may have missed it but hasn't anyone pointed out that this headline is a lie?

This isn't about Sweden as a whole but a single local council's own office toilets and nobody is suggesting anything should be made illegal. (http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2012/06/11/Swedish-party-wants-sit-down-urination/UPI-70041339439528/)

I think the bigger question here is why a theoretically professional media outlet would print outright lies in this way and why are so many people so quick to believe them. If you see something ridiculous or outrageous in the media, your instinctive response shouldn't be ridicule or outrage but questioning.

If I ever redid my bathroom, I would absolutely put a urinal in it. I am not sure why they aren't more popular, it would have prevented many a fight with my brothers growing up.

As far as this law, how stupid. Whoever proposed the law should be banned for a duration of time fitting that they reevaluate what is and what is not appropriate to tie down the legislative process with.

What makes you think there is a law involved? Didn't bother reading beyond the headlines? You said it.

ewwhhh. I probably wouldn't want to show my bathroom under a uv light due to an 8 year boy in my house. Fluids would probably show up on the ceiling.

I did read the linked article. The proposed motion is that better? or did I miss something else? Either way its idiotic in my opinion.

Surely it cannot be much harder than plumbing a toilet?

Don't they also have the 1 cup toilets? I remember in germany the toilet had a shelf in it and a cup of water. You would crap on the shelf. I would have to stand up to keep from sitting in my own (*)(*)(*)(*) because it wasn't low enough in the toilet to hold it all. Then when you flush the water would just run around the (*)(*)(*)(*) and you'd have to get a stick to push the (*)(*)(*)(*) into the cup of water. What stupidity.
