Darn right it's true. They act like they're so modern and brand new but they just follow failed 19th century philosophies.

Indeed. Adam Smith is much more modern.

It's synonymous with liberal or socialist. They're pretty much all the same.

If you're not right wing, you're a progressive.

So as per US standards I guess the world is full of progressives.

    There is hope.

It's a political philosophy that has damaged the country.

The Progressive era began in the late 19th, early 20th century and has eliminated many of the individual liberties the US was founded upon.

Uh... I'm not sure how much moderation someone who calls innocent victims of terror Nazis can grow into. But we shall see; perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised, although I'm not banking on it.

As opposed to neo-conservatism, which has simply killed it?

I have no sympathy for the neo-cons, but it was certainly the progressives that sent the US down the tubes.

From what precinct of the country do you come that would label Bush a progressive?

We will try to keep you informed. What are LSE students by the way? LSE as in the London School of Economics?

I would agree that Bush was/is a progressive. Most statists are.

You know what, you are the second American I meet who has had a bad experience as a student in London.

The first one was a pretty girl from Texas whose accent made her Christie's classmates laugh...I felt for her:)

Bush was big into deregulation, which played a part in this economic mess. I'm not sure that would be classified as "statist." Although, obviously things like the Patriot Act, TARP, the wars, etc would be.

Yeah, I can't stand the English.

I got a much better reception in France. There were still some nasty ones, though...

Well, its about time France and other European allies stood up and took some of the burden off the USA, a burden that Europe has been so unwilling to share ever since WW11 and the Berlin Airlift. Apart from France and Britain, I don't see many other Euros pulling their wheight. As usual, like parasites, they are still standing by, whilst other countries do the heavy lifting for them.

I recognized Obama for what he was immediately. I know and understand that type of lawyer.

Not so with Bush. Bush was such a disappointment.

He was a walking contradiction, partly fact and partly fiction. A Big Govt. Republican.

Bush came dammmmmmm close to killing the conservative movement in America. It took Obama to resurrect it and give it meaning.

If it weren't for Bush, Obama wouldn't have been possible.

The first country to withdraw recognition from Syria.

The British are still thinking about it even after the Syrians burned their embassy. Phlegm is hard to move.

The Americans are still trying to figure out where Syria is.

If you are going to try to "lead the free world", it helps to know where it is.

France is becoming the most enlightened country in Europe. It has a socialist government that promotes strategies of growth.

It is now to legalise gay marriage.

I would expect no less of the French.

LOL!!! So funny. Let's see of I remember when the fighting had first started, of the 112 Missiles fired, 100 were paid for by the U.S. 10 by Britain and 2 by France. Wooohooo.. Way to Go FRANCE!!!

What's the poorest state in the U.S. Hmm... Oh yeah Mississippi. The poorest state in the U.S. has about the same GDP as France! Even if you ranked it by Per Capital GDP, they would rank near the 48th State, South Carolina.

Yes, I'm sure that a country with a total Gross Domestic Product somewhere between South Carolina and Mississippi can somehow overtake the U.S.A.'s leadership in the world.... ROFLOL!!!
